"Tempted not to leave a review, as this place was so lovely I'd quite like to keep it to myself. Isolated deep inside the wonderful Newstead Abbey grounds, it was utterly fabulous. The listing doesn't do it justice. There were only two of us, with the rest of the family visiting one day, but you could easily have a family of four. "Cottage was easy to find and the instructions to get the keys from the key box were easy to understand. The village is a quiet rural community, up a steep hill from the local pub with no other facilities but it's a short drive into Ashbourne. The property is nicely decorated throughout with all mod cons. The bathroom is as good as it looks in the pictures. A shame that there is no garden and minimal roadside parking."

"The location of this property is excellent with great walks on the doorstep and, despite it being a fairly small village, 3 pubs, 2 bakeries and a village store all within a few minutes walk. The property itself is cosy and very comfortable. The owner is excellent - very responsive when we had a small issue to resolve. Worth noting that the outside space is small (as advertised) which might not suit all dogs."

"Lovely place to stay, right next to some stunning walks, and some that are a short drive away. Would recommend taking slippers as the floor is tile downstairs and gets cold and slightly damp in evenings. The cottage itself is lovely and cosy when warmed up, extra blankets were also provided making it a bit cosier. We visited Thor's Cave which was a stunning walk with views at the top, and there's a little tearoom nearby. That's only a 10 minute drive away from the cottage! If you have the...

"The cottage is very welcoming and is equipped with everything that you may need. It is very central to the lovely village with shops and pub almost within touching distance. The off-road parking is a boon although there was always space on the road if more than one car was used. All-in-all an excellent stay and no doubt we will return as there is so much to see in the area and the cottage makes a wonderful base."
