"Our host was amazing. Our bus arrived late and then we had to wait over an hour for a taxi, but our host waited patiently for us even though it was well past check in time. He was then very attentive to all questions answering quickly and making sure our needs were met. The apartment is in a fantastic location very close to the historic district, restaurants, shopping, the beach, and ferry. Honestly I couldn’t ask for better placement. "This place is wonderful! The host is the best, very helpful and accomodating! We arrived late and he was sure to be there to greet us, plus stored our bags while we went on a boat tour the day we checked out. Beautiful pottery and light fixtures made by his artist wife. "Strange location down an alley, off of an old cobblestone street. Had 3 different electronic entries, an old, tiny lift that didnt quite line up with the floor. It took being sent 3 codes to get to finally get in and there were roll down shutters on the outsides of the windows, which couldn't be opened. We never met a live person and the whole experience was strange. On an up note. The shower and bed were better than adequate"

"Alexis was very gracious host. He gets his workouts by offering to assist with carrying luggage up 2 flights of stairs. Breakfast more than adequate and a washer allowed us to catch up on laundry. "Hotel Scapolatiello is quite unique, created by a family in 1821 and currently run by the 5th generation of the same family. It is in a fantastic location in forested mountains above Salerno with majestic views. The rambling building has several terraces with lots of flowers and it is a soothing and pleasing experience to sip a cocktail provided by the friendly and obliging barman, Antonio, to relax, and just gaze at the natural beauty all around. We found the staff to be helpful and smiling and felt we were being well taken care of. A special mention also to the head waiter Abel, who went out of his way to ensure everything was to our liking. There is a nicely laid out and good sized swimming pool with ample deckchairs and towels and a small bar. The restaurant is slightly old-fashioned, with a relatively short but decent menu, in addition to which there were always specials such as sea bream, sea bass, lobster, spaghetti with utterly delicious tomatoes, and steak. The wine list is extensive and affordable. All in all, we loved being there and it was a lovely experience. On one night singers from the Conservatoire at Salerno gave an impromptu performance in the lounge area, which was magical. The only excursion arranged for us by the hotel was a trip along the beautiful Amalfi coast in a motor launch with another couple, with a one hour stop in Amalfi and a longer one for lunch in Positano."
