"Hard to separate the charm of Montalcino from that of our hotel and staff but this hotel and staff would have stood out in any location. Our suite was elegant and spacious situated in the heart of Montalcino's many shops and cafés. The staff made us feel like family they were hosting, always gracious, never mercenary. It felt a bit like staying at a friends beautiful home with the butler and staff remaining to attend to our needs. The food was delicious, artfully and graciously presented. Our stay included a free small group private tasting and tour of the Tassi winery, founded by the hotel owner's grandfather (who was himself a sharecropper for the Brunello-founding Biondi Santi family). If we could only ever revisit one place in our Italian tour, I think we'd choose this one. Five stars all around."

"The most wonderful way to relax and reset after traveling through Italy. The staff were lovely and the wine and breakfast were delicious. The hotel is only a 4 min drive to Montalcino."

"Hotel Dei Capitani was a wonderful hotel with a fantastic view. It was so relaxing to open our doors to the balcony and see the sunrise and sunset colors over the lovely countryside. A great location and the staff were so helpful. We highly recommend this hotel."

"Beautiful property, well maintained. Breakfast was excellent and included. Staff were so nice and helpful, from check-in to breakfast, from help with dinner reservations and recommendations to making afternoon coffee. The room was also very nice, with beautiful views and comfortable couch for those much needed breaks. The refrigerator came in handy to store snacks and keep water cold. Really enjoyed this hotel."

"We absolutely loved staying here - the location was very central in Tuscany, it was a beautiful property with a lovely view and a very nice pool area. The staff was amazing and the value was incredible. We would definitely stay here again."

"Beautiful property, spacious room, so well maintained. Pool was lovely but a little too quiet, some music would have been a nice touch. A little awkward to get drink/snack at pool and carry it outside while juggling entrance key. White wine appeared to complimentary pool side, why not red? Would love to have experienced e-bikes but unfortunately rained during our available time slot. Enjoyed lunch at the on-site casual restaurant, food and wine parings were excellent, never left us with an empty wine glass. Enjoyed the onsite museum even though not all the information was in English. Would love to return one day."
