The pool/jacuzzi/sauna was great to have on a rainy day. There was plenty of choice on site for eating and drinking or it was just a short walk into town. The hotel is virtually next door to the cavernous St Macartan's cathedral, the outstanding building of Monaghan. There was a wedding on the day I arrived which made reception very busy and the staff less available but no less friendly for it.

Greeted with a warm welcome. The staff are lovely ,leisure and spa facilities are excellent very relaxing,the room was big and clean and had complementary water and products, but was a little cold ,fine once I was in the bed . The girl at checkout was so helpful and informative , should probably of just asked for the heating to be turned on or up .

Nice walking path adjacent to hotel. We had a sauna in the late afternoon which was welcomed. Our room was over the gym which was a bit noisy spa consideration when booking your room.

Beautiful hotel, room was a great size for family of 4 Swimming pool is great but they let too many people in one of the days u couldn't swim it was so packed. Good selection for breakfast but my kids not so happy that both mornings the pancake machine was out of order. Not a lot to do in Monaghan town but hotel is great for little kids for the kids club/cinema etc

Average hotel at best. Definitely not a 4 star as rated. Repairs needed to round seating area at front, skirting in breakfast dining room needing replaced vadly and flaking paint in room. On hotels. com receipt, stated check-in was 3pm but told when we got to hotel it was 4pm and our room was not ready. Staff friendly enough.

The Hillgrove is very conveniently located. Lots of easy parking. The staff are friendly and professional and the bar and breakfast space are very inviting, the menus are very good. Our deluxe room was very spacious and the view of the cathedral and downtown was a welcome morning sight. Highly recommend and will definitely stay again☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️

Rooms are quite large, but showing their age. Bathroom was grubby. Floors were dirty with grime in all the corners. Carpet was well worn, definitely recommend slippers! Elevator was down and had apparently been out of service for quite some time although that information was not shared at booking.
