Villa Le Fontanelle: Home to Celebrities

Present owner of this magnificient Villa is Russian millionaire Arkady Novikov who bought it in 2008 for a price of 33 million Euros.
It was previously owned by Gianni Versace from 1977 until his murder in 1997. Before his death, celebrities such as Sir Elton John, Sting and Madonna were guests in the building.
Since the death of Versace, only American singer Jennifer Lopez and her husband Chris Judd spent their honeymoon there. It is not open to the public but can be viewed from the lake.
The Villa itself "Le Fontanelle" was originally built in 1776 and owned prior to Versace by the Cambiaghi family. Versace purchased this magnificent villa in 1977 and completely refurbished the property ay huge expense. He restored the elegant neo-classic style true to their original design and Versace supervised every element of the restoration and furnished the villa personally.

"The location is quiet. There is a ferry location about 150 yards from the hotel and you don’t have to deal with the crowds in Bellagio. Room was clean and the breakfast was great. To get to our room there were 2 flights of steps. Bellagio is about a mile walk from the hotel. Nice quiet location"

"The staff, a mother and daughter team or incredibly friendly, accommodating, and helpful. They served a delicious breakfast, and offered us dinner if we wanted. They helped us with transportation around Lake Como, even drove us to the proper ferry. I was very impressed."

"Our stay at Villa Ucci was brilliant. Danilo was an incredible host. He was very kind and hospitable and was there for any needs. The morning breakfast was fabulous and the whole villa screams Italia. Easy in and out and they take care of the rooms very well. Love this place and would definitely go back. "

"The hotel view was amazing, probably one of the best in Lecco. The rooms were clean and AC was good. However, there was a lot of rules we didn’t know about, for example we weren’t able to use any glasses or things from the kitchen, and the pool was only open between 10-12 and 16-20. Also, the hotel was very far up and the bus didn’t go that often, so the hotel is probably more suitable if you have a car."

Stunning Historical Palace with Incredible Staff

"Our experience at the Palace Grand Hotel in Varese was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were enveloped in warmth, charm, and old-world elegance that made our stay unforgettable. At the bar, Domenico and Marco were shining stars. Their hospitality made every visit special, and their mixed beverages were expertly crafted and consistently delicious. Whether we were winding down after a day of adventure or enjoying a pre-dinner cocktail, Domenico and Marco made sure everything was perfect. We left with two new friends. One of the true highlights was the spa experience with Lisa, whose lymphatic drainage massage was absolutely wonderful. She is incredibly skilled, attentive, and made me feel completely relaxed and rejuvenated. It was truly one of the best spa treatments I’ve ever had. We were also lucky enough to plan a rehearsal dinner and Welcome drink experience with Chiara. She went above and beyond to make sure we knew all of our options and plans for our wedding celebration coming up. Her attention to detail, warmth, and thoughtful hospitality made everyone feel welcome and at ease. She’s truly a gem. The grounds of the hotel are stunning, with sweeping views of Lake Varese and an atmosphere that feels both tranquil and grand. "Old school pictures didn’t do this excellent hotel justice. The hotel felt traditional, elegant and classy. The pool and gardens in the back offered a private and relaxing reprieve. The hotel’s location couldn’t have been better. Breakfast was great. Latte is just milk. Felt like more than a 3 star hotel."
