"I didn't get to see much of the spa because you needed to book a facial or massage to use it. I had a pedicure but that didn't count for some reason. Would be nice if you could just pay a small fee if all you wanted to do was get access to the spa area for the day. And maybe put a few indoor plants in there; because there's no windows so it feels a little claustrophobic."

"The drama and beauty of the ocean right there ... steps away from your covered lanai ... lulled to sleep and gently awoken with the rhythmic sound of the waves ... having a sunset dinner while watching the sun sink into the ocean ... or waking up with papaya and kona coffee out on the lanai. This is why we have rented this place for 3 years in a row now. It's not the fanciest unit, but its location right on the ocean is priceless.Now with that being said, I gotta say ... we had a few challenges this time.The biggest setback is that the wi-fi "was fried" ... according to the technician that came to fix it. This time without wi-fi service (2 days) really complicated my client schedule of zoom meetings that I had all lined up for a long time. Cancellations and rescheduling didn't look good on me. Anyway ... Dolores from Hawaii Beach Homes was most helpful, and really tried her best to resolve all this as quickly as possible.Also, this third time around, it was evident that things are starting to fall apart ... shrubs along the parking strip really needed to be trimmed back, as well as other shrubs on the property. The whole pool area needs all new furniture. Those umbrellas will barely make it thru another summer, if at all ... and those layout lounge chairs are close behind. It's just sad to see it begin to run down. I'm hoping they take on a new commitment to keeping it beautiful and maintained.Finally - the prices have gone WAY up, so sadly will not be able to return"

"We really loved our stay at this home, it had such a warm, homey feel that made it easy to settle in right away. The A/C worked great and kept the house comfortable even on hot days, which made a big difference.The location in Kahuku is amazing. We were able to walk to the food trucks and nearby beaches, and it’s such a great central spot on the North Shore to explore from. We ended up loving Kahuku as a home base.Inside, the couches were big and deep, perfect for relaxing after long days out. Our kids loved that there were books and toys available, and having TVs in both the living room and master bedroom was a nice bonus. We also appreciated having soap, shampoo, and conditioner provided. There were some ants, but honestly, you're going to get that anywhere in Hawaii if you're not staying at a hotel and if you're on the ground floor. There was some ant spray under the sink, and I used it the first day and didn't really have problems with it after that.The washer and dryer setup just outside was actually really nice, it kept the house from getting warm like some places where the dryer is inside. And the backyard was such a fun surprise! The coconut, papaya, and banana trees were a huge hit with our kids.The owner was also incredibly kind and accommodating—they let us check in early when it was raining and we didn’t really have anywhere to go, which we really appreciated.Overall, this place was comfortable, convenient, and a great fit for our family. "Lovely beach, beautiful views. The unit itself was small, very dated, and lacked simple decent amenities. Coffee tasted like dark water - and this in Hawaii? Nothing in the pantry, not even salt and pepper. For the price, this is not a good value. If it were half the cost, it’s great. "

The Service Experience However, my experience was deeply disappointing. We booked this stay to break up a long journey from Thailand and New Zealand and to mark our 40th wedding anniversary. After a grueling red-eye flight, we were looking for the resort experience one expects at this price point. Instead, we felt "trapped" in a perpetual sales pitch. When we sought technical assistance with the resort’s app at the welcome desk, we weren't given a solution; instead, we were met with a misleading high-pressure invitation to a timeshare presentation. I would never have booked this location had it been clearly disclosed that the priority here is timeshare sales rather than guest relaxation. Dining & Health Issues The logistical hurdles with the app meant we missed out on reservations for the main restaurant. We turned to the pool grill, where I ordered a BBQ sandwich that arrived dry and burnt. Regrettably, I ate it anyway—an error that cost me the next two days of my trip due to illness. Final Verdict While the property is physically beautiful, the "hotel food" warnings I received were an understatement, and the aggressive sales culture ruined it."
