"What we liked: the pool and beach are very nice. The rooms are very comfortable and a good size. The staff is very friendly. The food at the pool is surprisingly good. The location is great. The views are beautiful.
What we didn’t like: people “save” all the chairs super early and then disappear all day so there is no one in the chairs but also nowhere to sit. There really aren’t many amenities provided in exchange for your resort fee. Parts of the resort feel a little forgotten. The general area is very touristy which we did know but it was even more so than expected."
"Great Grounds and Luau, but a Few Hiccups
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)
The Highlights: Grounds, Beach, and Luau
The grounds at The Royal Lahaina Resort and Bungalows are absolutely beautiful, and the pools are decent. One of the best parts was the beach—it’s very nice and, thankfully, not overcrowded at all. Another major highlight was the Myths of Maui Luau. It was great, and I definitely recommend splurging for the VIP experience!
The Accommodations & Staff
Most of the staff members we encountered were pleasant, with the exception of one evening front desk agent who could have been more helpful.
As for the room, we stayed on the 9th floor of the tower. The rooms themselves were small but very clean. The beds were comfortable, and the A/C worked great, which is a must. However, we hit a bit of bad luck during our stay as the resort was being painted. Being up on the 9th floor, the smell of the paint was overwhelming.
Food & Beverage Note
A quick heads-up on the coffee shop: I wouldn't recommend the coffee here. It was very weak and tasted like it was mostly milk.
The Verdict: Despite the paint fumes and the weak coffee, the beautiful location, great beach, and excellent luau made this a solid 4-star stay."
"Location was great. Steps away from the beach, right next to great restaurants and shopping at Whalers Village. Would absolutely stay here again when we visit Kaanapali the next time!"
"Great place for families, stayed in the 2 bed/2bath. Very spacious for our family of 5. Food options available within a 15 minute walk. Quiet and comfortable beds made the trip relaxing."
"It was a strange set up but it worked great for us. We didn’t see staff for more than a few minutes the entire week stay. No frills, for sure, but that helps keep the price down. Location is fantastic. Very close to the beach and we even had a little bit of a view! Parking lot gets full but we always managed to get parking. My kids loved the pool.
Kitchen was well stocked. Having a clothes line to dry our stuff would’ve been a huge help. We used the balcony but the birds made a mess of some things. Overall everything was very clean but all of the towels provided had someone’s hair on them. Even when they were replaced during the week, the new ones also had hair."
