The house was very roomy and comfortable and had all the amenities we could ask for. It had more than enough room for our family of 5 and great views. Would love to have stayed here much longer than 2 nights.
Liked: Cleanliness, amenities, property conditions & facilities, communication
We just loved our stay here. Such a beautiful little house with everything you need for a comfy stay. Lovely little town and great location base for exploring Skye. Can’t fault 10/10
Beautiful place with lots of space and big kitchen. Host gave us lots of directions and lots of info on check in and check out. Easy could have three couples travelling. Only one bathroom though.
As the headline for the listing says, it was a perfect base for our exploring the Skye.
Keith was responsive when we needed him. The house was clean, warm, cozy, provided all we needed for our stay, and offered an amazing view of the loch and surrounding mountains.
We really enjoyed the Old Inn just a mile away and the Talisker distillery visit.
This house was the perfect place to stay on Skye. It has the most amazing views and isn't too far from several gorgeous sites (though a car is still a necessity!) An overall magical place and made us feel right at home. The property manager was super attentive, friendly and easy to reach. He also gave us some great recommendations. We will definitely have to come back!
If you are looking for a relatively remote spot with gorgeous views across the loch, this is perfect. The property was warm and cosy, great to hunker down despite the lashing rain and powerful wind outside. A short walk gets you to Talisker distillery, the Old Inn and little local convenience store, so yiu have all you need. Property well equipped and comfortable, great communication with owner - thanks for the opportunity to explores the wilds and wiles of Skye.
We enjoyed our stay very much. The accommodation has a lot of space and is equipped with everything you need. The Isle of Skye has breathtakingly beautiful scenery, cliffs, waterfalls and we were lucky enough to see whales, orcas, dolphins and sharks all in one day. We would have liked to stay longer than the week we booked. We definitely recommend this cottage.
The property was spacious, clean and well presented. The enclosed garden was perfect for our dogs and the hard floors were easily kept clean from muddy paws.
The location of the property allowed us to visit many places during our stay and the caretakers local knowledge allowed us to find a beach close by for the dogs to play in the water.
All in all, an excellent place to be in and be based from.
The bungalow is exactly as listed and is well appointed in a lovely location. We had good communications with the owner and a great chat with the helpful caretaker who lives nearby. Carbost is remote but the village is friendly with a good pub and small community shop. It was warm and draft free despite a very wet and windy week.
Lovely conservatory - spent most of the time in there. Spacious and well equipped kitchen. Good to have separate dining room. Plenty of storage space throughout. Really helpful to have parking in front.
We had a good time here! The property is big and had all the necessities. It is a very peaceful and beautiful area. The road that leads there is a single lane road, so it was a bit stressful to get there by car, and there is no grocery nearby. It is very easy to get to the Talisker distillery and to the fairy pools from there. Overall, it was an amazing place to stay!
I loved the house and the layout. The location was beautiful and peaceful. My only suggestion would be to post a new picture of the front. With the updates you've done to the parking its gard to recognize with the curre t picture. I absolutely loved this place.
Wow. Skye is magical and I'm glad we stayed two nights in this house. The view from the windows of the loch and surrounding countryside is unbeatable. So many stars at night. Amazing silence. Friendly neighbors down the street let us feed their sheep. The home was our comfortable base for exploring the Quiraing Road, Mealt Falls/Kilt Rock, Old Man Storr, Portree, and the Fairy Pools. Got up for the sunrise our last morning. Didn't want to leave! Thank you!
This home has good location with great views. Neighbours are very close by though. Loved the washer and dryer; so practical! Place needs some deep cleaning and new couches but overall, it’s very large and comfortable. We loved sitting in the sunroom playing Trivial pursuit so thanks for thé games. We got instructions from Keith for the tv and worked well. Great meal at the Old Inn pub, just down the road.
Views of sheep from conservatory in back (where we spent most of our time) and glorious water views from dining table out front which are not shown in listing but should be! Very comfy well equipped older cottage. Keith was great to chat with. The 4 mile one track road in was slow due to the traffic to the Talisker Distillery but that is no fault of the cottage. Just a fact on Skye!
Fab cottage in great location. Really suitable for walkers as there is a large utility room with plenty hooks for outdoor gear and boots (direct access from outside) Very big property for 6 people with a living room & sun room. Did not get a tv channels ( it might have been us not knowing how) but there was wifi so could watch on line on phone if wanted. Easy to get to Fairy Pools and I preferred the walk from Glenbrittle campside around the bay. Easy to get to Dunvegan & Portree.
Spacious cottage located about a mile from Carbost village, sitting above the bank of loch Harport, giving great views of the whole area.
The cottage is very well equipped and comfortable. The beds are, perhaps, slightly lumpy, yet all of our party enjoyed a great night's sleep throughout our week's stay.
It provided a great base for exploring the island (cautionary note, if you haven't been to Skye before, allow plenty travelling time, due to single track roads and slow motor homes... e.g. from the cottage to the Fairy Pools' car park is a distance of 7.5 miles, which at worst, took 50 minutes in the car!).
We thoroughly enjoyed our week on Skye based at the cottage. It offered a comfortable stay and fantastic value. We would not hesitate to return and highly recommend it to others.
Value for money with this house is awesome! Those negative reviews have to be from people with a champagne taste on a beer budget. Yes it’s an older home, but for the price it is sooo worth it. Great views and the sunroom is a great way to relax and spend windy stormy days. We had a week here and for the price I was AMAZED! The Old Inn in Carbost is a cute little pub close by to see and listen to live music. Fasts in The Isle of Skye Candle Co Welcome center (Portree) is a must. The pizza and scones are superb! If you don’t get check-in instructions, just go to the house. Trust me, the caretaker Keith is either there or close by to help. Skye is small, so just go. I can’t wait to return and I’ll definitely be booking again, maybe 2 weeks next trip if I’m lucky. Thanks for sharing a lovely little cottage!
We stayed in this charming and cozy house on the Isle of Skye for four days, using it as a home base while exploring the entire island each day. The service was seamless, and the host was incredibly understanding and responsive. Located not far from the Talisker Distillery, the home offers breathtaking views overlooking the Loch, with plenty of friendly sheep adding to the idyllic atmosphere.
If peace and tranquility are what you seek, this is the perfect place to stay. While there is a small community store with limited hours nearby, it's important to note that the closest town with shops and dining is about a 20–30 minute drive. This remoteness adds to the charm but is something to keep in mind for planning meals and supplies.
With three bedrooms, one bath, and a bonus area, the home met our needs comfortably. We encountered a few hiccups with the heating, but the host promptly answered our call and informed us about a small heater, which we used in the common space, and we made it work. We also appreciated having a washer and dryer to refresh our clothing for the rest of our journey.
There appears to be some mold starting in the laundry room, but it’s being addressed. A dehumidifier is available to help combat the damp atmosphere, which is helpful in this climate.
Overall, this home provided a warm and peaceful retreat in one of Scotland’s most stunning landscapes. I would stay here again.
