The view was amazing! The room was cozy yet you had room to move. It was old school but that was part of the charm. I would definitely stay here again.
If you are looking for a relaxing, rustic stay that takes you back to coming up north as a kid..this place is for you. The rooms were clean, the place was quiet, pet-friendly as well!
I would stay here again. Clean room, Nice view of the lake, pet friendly, access to the water. It's not perfect as building is older and needs some updating.

It was hard to find anybody to help check in or to report problems. No one answered the phone numbers listed on the sign or written on the white board at the front door. (Voicemail was full and therefore i couldn't leave a message. ) When I could find someone to talk to, they were friendly and helpful, but did not look professional (they dressed in pajamas or no shirts).
I did like the location and the rustic decor of the rooms.
I loved the place, nice place to stop, had lots to do on the grounds, and pond, had great views of lake Ruth from second floor, great place to eat 4 miles west
I'm actually at the Carla's Inn. It's the nicest roadside motel I've ever been to. The owners are very nice people and made room for me when I needed it. If I ever came back to the area I would definetly stay here again.
I wish I would have had more time to hang out at the property because it's gorgeous but it was perfect for a quick night's sleep. The bed was very comfortable. The room smelled a little musty but was clean.
When traveling with a dog it's often hard to find a place that approves their admittance, but Bear Paw Inn graciously did and without imposing a ridiculously high fee. The young lady at the desk when we arrived was pleasant, friendly, and very patient with this road-weary traveler who was somewhat confused over whether we'd already been charged (we weren't).
We ended up with a VERY clean, exceptionally comfortable room (2 queen beds) that was rustic yet cozy. I would recommend and certainly would return if ever in that area again!

This motel is older and the rooms are charming. The sink and toilet are newer. The area is pretty: a big lake is across the road. Despite the motel being on highway 41, it was quiet enough at night that we could leave the windows open. The young woman staffing the motel told us that it is owned by her grandparents. The motel is between Michigamme and L'Anse. We went into L'Anse for breakfast. I recommend filling your water bottle at a restaurant for drinking water as their well water wasn't tasty.
This was a cute little off the road place but the rustic cuteness that we like for the UP of Michigan. Other than a small leak, where there was a spot of wet carpet, the bed was comfortable. The TV was good and a clean shower was all we needed. Price was fair as well.

This property is conveniently located. The check in process was nice and it was a quiet place to settle. The outside area had a nice ambiance with a fire pit, docks, kayaks to use and a place to sit near the water. The beds were comfortable and the room was cozy. There was a mildew/mold smell in the room that was helped by turning the air conditioner on.
We enjoyed our three night stay here. The room was clean. We did some fishing off the dock. It was nice to have a fire pit to use. The front desk was friendly. They have a grill, horseshoes, and some other amenities. We ate at the bar/restaurant a couple times. Its just down the road. Played some Keno. I would stay here again when in the area.
Arrived after office hours but they had printed out my receipt and put it and our room key in an envelope taped to the office door. Thank you! Property had horseshoes, corn hole, chaise loungers for use. It's an old property still in the 60's. But we were there to sleep not get fashion tips.
I believe they are trying to make it nice. There are yard games available, a rowboat, and chairs by the water. At first glance the room looked Ok. But the bed did not have a top sheet, there was a missing light bulb, the power did not work in the outlet we wanted for charging our devices, and the password for the internet did not work. All easy to correct.
