"This is a very unique hotel. We picked it because of the fun decor and it didn’t not disappoint. Everywhere you look there is fun, interesting and whimsical artwork and decorative touches. Unfortunately many areas just seem old and under kept. Most of the staff are lovely and very helpful. The area seems a little sketchy at night but after taking a few evening walks, I’m sure the sketchiness is more perception than reality. If you enjoy the eclectic, this is your place!"

"If you want a life time memory this is the place to stay! The experience is something else! From the amazing cold cloth and welcome tequila. To the warm cave and outdoor pool. Plus the murals and the gardens this is the most magical place. Definitely worth every penny! We can’t wait to go back! "

"This place was cheap and functional nothing fancy. The staff was helpful and nice but Oaxaca centro is kinda off-putting. It smells like garbage consistently and really doesn’t offer anything special. Great hotel if you want to stay en el centro, just don’t love el centro."

"Very convenient location. Only one staff can speak English. I wish they put a doorbell in the front gate so they can hear that people are coming. They always lock the front gate and most of the time I have to shout to alert them that I’m at the gate. I wish they laundry the pillow cases, towels, and bed sheets so well, coz it smells musty. Breakfast is good. "

"We were genuinely sad we only had one night to stay at Banana Azul! Check in was quick and efficient and friendly. The fresh coconut was a lovely treat. The Howler Suite was charming and the view magical. The food in the restaurant was delicious. I highly recommend Banana Azul if you want an authentic Costa Rica experience that’s right on the Playa Negra beach. I’ll definitely be returning. "
