There are several cable cars to the surrounding mountain tops within 10-15 minutes by car (5-7 km) from the apartment, and in winter you can go skiing after a mere 10-minute drive (4.8 km), while plenty of great hiking and cycling routes start basically at the front door. Bolzano (Bozen), South Tyrol’s vibrant capital, lies 32 km south of Merano.
