LA Source, House With Heated Saltwater Pool Near Lagrasse, Sleeps 9

The setting
Surrounded by stunning nature, La Source is our beautiful and stylish 4 bedroomed detached property with its own heated salt water pool . (10 x 4 metres) Our peaceful and tranquil house hasw 3 large terraces and is set in the striking hills and vineyards of the Corbieres . The lively and historic village of Lagrasse is only a 15 minute drive away and fabulous beaches , cathar castles, rivers and colourful markets are all easily accessible by car. A great place to relax, unwind and explore.‬‬

The neighborhood
Sima’s home is located in Mayronnes, Occitanie, France.
The house is located in stunning nature surrounded by vineyards and hills. On the doorstep of the house is the sentier sculptural " sculpture walk" which is always a hit with children and adults. There are beautiful wild swimming spots nearby and hiking and cycling for all levels. For the more adventurous there is canyoning, kayaking and white water rafting.
There are lovely surrounding villages and the medieval village of Lagrasse with its lively restaurants and extensive programme of art cultural events is a fabulous place to spend time.

There are many nearby Domaines producing delicious, wines - the area of Boutenac is especially celebrated. This area is also rich in gastronomic delights from simple regional bistro fare to the 11 michelin star restaurants in the Carcassonne area and the 3 michelin star restaurant Les Vieux Puits. Seafood lovers will not be disappointed with the tasty and reasonably priced offerings on the coast and restaurants in the region.

The inspiring Cathar heritage sites of Carcassonne, Termes, Peyreptuse and Queribus and the beautiful mediterranean beaches of Leucate and Gruissan can all be reached within an hour.
Nearby Narbonne boasts a magnificent cathedral, Roman ruins, a superb market (Les Halles: open 365 days a year) and the canal du midi is a short drive away.

Further afield the delightful seaside resort of Collioure is a rewarding trip as are the Spanish coastal resorts, principally Cadaques, and the towns of Costa Brava. The cities of Girona (2 hours) and Barcelona (3 hours) are very accessible as are the mountains of the Pyrenees.
In the winter months there is plenty of life in the nearby cities and Carcassonne is particularly beautiful over the Christmas period with its Christmas markets.

Getting around
Whilst a car is essential to get to and from the house there are good train services from Carcassonne and Narbonne to all regions of France and Barcelona is just two hours on the coastal TGV.

The space
The house is 200 m2 and is detached. There is a large open plan living room /kitchen /dining room with 2 large sofas . The dining table extends to sit 10 people. The kitchen is fully equipped with all mod cons including Neff double oven ,microwave nespresso machine , food blender and juicer. We are big cooks so the open plan sociable kitchen with its long breakfast bar has all you need to rustle up a feast!. There is British satellite television and wi fi throughout the house and in some of the outdoor areas. The large shaded terrace on the lower level has a dining table that can extend to seat 10 .
The house is fully heated and there is an enormous open fireplace ( wood provided) which makes La Source a really cosy place to stay in the cooler autumn and winter months. There are 2 bedrooms down stairs and a utility room ( with an extra fridge to store wine ,beer ,soft drinks ) and a large family bathroom.

Upstairs the mezzanine is a second living space / library and has a double sofa bed. Both of the large bedrooms upstairs have ensuite shower rooms and the mezzanine and bedroom lead out to the large upstairs balcony which has comfortable seating for evening drinks and additional sun loungers.

The sun deck has 6 comfortable loungers and 2 hammocks and there is additional seating on the west facing terrace.

The library has an extensive selection of books and DVD's which guests are welcome to use. There is a large selection of board games ( for rainy days or the cooler months) and a ping pong table .

there is a BBQ and all the equipment you need for al fresco dining. There is hardly any light pollution so star gazing is a real treat here .

All bed linen and towels are provided and there are cool bags and picnic tableware which guests can use.

The property benefits from having all of its water come from a local spring in the hills opposite the house which is UV light treated . Hence the name , La Source

Guests will have sole use of the entire property

Interaction with guests
We live in London so will not be physically present but will be fully contactable to advise on local amenities. The property is locally managed and advice and assistance will be available from us directly and from the local managers

While this property is relatively new to this platform the owners are experienced hosts having rented this property on other platforms with 5 * reviews.

Other things to note
There are no shops within walking distance of the property: the nearest are a 15 minute drive in Lagrasse or Servies-en-val. We can arrange for an excellent cook to come to the house and make tasty meals for the days when you don't feel like cooking or shopping. Essential items can be provided for arrival.

Please note that the pool heating only extends the season and will not operate if the ambient temperature is below 7 degrees and the water temperature below 12 degrees. This is not an all year round heated swimming pool . The pool is open from April until the end of November although this will vary from year to year.

The property is on the side of a hill with some slopes .Toddlers must be fully supervised.

Although check in during July and August are on a Saturday we may be able to accommodate a Friday or Sunday check in on request.

A detailed house manual and guide to the local amenities will be provided to guests .
