Cozy quiet riad which was easy to find, not overly close to the busy souks, but still near a market street. Even though we arrived early, Youssef greeted us warmly, inviting for tea by the pool. Giving a map of the medina, he took it upon himself to point out highlights in it, recommending different spots for what we said we were interested in. He gave us much time in discussing the culture of Marrakech and Morocco as a whole. Room ac worked well. Showerhead is installed a little too high, causing splash-out. Complimentary q-tips and makeup removal pads were provided. Pool is more of a wader which is common in a riad, a little bigger than a hot tub. Breakfast was various breads with some spreads. Nearby convenience store was honest and did not overcharge.

Excellent breakfast, the staff were very friendly and flexible. The room was very clean and refreshed every day, the beds were comfortable and the location was near to everything whilst being a bit out of the way to be quieter. It was hard to find, so get good directions and keep your own sat nav on in the taxi to make sure they get you as close as possible

Breakfast was delicious and served beautifully. The rooms were warm and clean, with a great roof terrace with a view over the city, great fir watching the sun set The location was also very central for the Médina, old town and pick up locations for bus trips

Heater was broken. Claimed they didn’t have another room. Asked to check out with a refund. They refused. Expedia contacted them, they still refused. Magically found another room at 2130. In the morning no water for the shower. They refused refund. In the end Expedia themselves had to refund me after I contacted the disputes team.

Moustapha was a great help during our stay with many recommendations and tips. The staff were great, breakfast was lovely every morning. About 20min walk from the main square, lovely restaurants all around. Close the the shops and not far to walk to the new city.

The property was clean and the room had lovely touches like rose petals and bottled water. What stood out was the staff, Amen was like our personal butler, he was always on hand to assist us with directions, tours and dinner recommendations.

Le gros coup de coeur : le personnel, tellement génial! Riad simple, mais qui fait le job, la promesse est tenue - peut-être pas très adapté à l'hiver, mais ça doit être le cas dans beaucoup d'endroits. The Staff at Riad Ekla were friendly, efficient, nothing was too much trouble. The Riad was clean, tidy. Moustapha on Reception was excellent as was the other Moustapha the waiter along with his sister who was in charge of house keeping . A wonderful warm atmosphere , we felt like family. Highly recommend staying here. Super easy access to the souks and New Marrakech without being too noisy. We booked trips through the Riad which were wonderful and airport transfers. Nothing was too much trouble and we had a wonderful Honeymoon. Matt and Becky

Mustafa, the owner was more interested selling his tour packages than helping us settle. The taxi driver did speak to him that we were coming and ask him to come outside the main road as the transfer from airport to hotel could not be reached by car but he out buying some grapes for himself. The adjacent empty block and back are full of rubbish. Not sure who discarded the rubbish but full of it. Other staff are nice and helpful.

What's normal in Africa

Do not book more than what you are willing to pay for on your credit card. I "reserved" 3 rooms for myself and 2 colleagues on Hotels.com with the "reserve now, pay later" feature, to "pay upon arrival". Upon arrival, I was told all 3 rooms were charged to my card and the bill could not be split. I explained that that was not what I booked, but I was told bills are not split in Africa. I had to dispute the charges with my credit card company, and for the 4 days we were there, I was repeatedly put off, lied to and felt as though I were being strong armed into paying for not only all rooms, but all charges made to the rooms of my colleagues as well on my card. They were also charging 3 different rates despite my having booked 3 rooms at the same rate, and again said, that's just how things are done in Africa. I cited that it was called fraud. My colleagues wanted their cards charged, but were told to just pay me. For 4 days, I fought with them, which overshadowed my entire trip, as I could not use the card due to the fraud report, and was not comfortable being there. Upon leaving, at 6 am on the last day, they accepted my colleagues' payments. But for 4 days, I received pushback. This is not service. There is no shortage of options for a Riad all over town, which I hope have better service and do not try to normalize fraud.

Charmant petit riad au coeur du souk

Truly enjoyed our experience at Riad Ekla! Not only was it beautiful, it was also relaxing. The area is perfect, it was in the medina but more on a quiet side. The staff were very accommodating and helpful. Loved the breakfast. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Marrakech.
