"Really enjoyed our stay which rounded off a very enjoyable weekend. Hotel is lovely and the Stables Bar is wonderful. We stayed on a dinner bed & breakfast basis. Not made clear what our options were at dinner. We were given wrong menus in the Brasserie which confused matters even more. Food at dinner and at breakfast was exceptional. Very vibrant atmosphere at the hotel ( though we wished the Welsh contingent somewhere, who left on a coach on Sunday morning at 6:15 am and made a right racket) But overall thoroughly enjoyed our stay"

"It is a huge 'Victorian pile' - refurbished lately - it is central, about 5 mins from Betty's tea shop. Breakfast is ok. Other menu a bit ordinary. Staff are good. Didn't try the spa - but it is there if you want it. So, overall OK. Would stay there again."

"We did room only but had a bar meal that was delicious. Had we not had very early plans the next morning we would have definitely had breakfast. We would definitely recommend the hotel and certainly stay again."

"A clean, basic but comfortable hotel, sitting somewhere between a Travelodge and a Premier Inn in terms of quality and facilities. Despite being located within a busy motorway service station, it was surprisingly quiet. Staff were friendly and helpful. My initial impression was that it represented good value for money, but that dropped somewhat when I discovered parking was an additional charge that hadn't been made clear when booking. The service station is also extremely popular, so finding a parking space can sometimes be a challenge. Overall, I'd describe it as fair value rather than a bargain."

"The hotel is in the centre of Boroughbridge. We found the stag so helpful and friendly. Really lovely and welcoming. The rooms are nice however the bathroom needs a full refurb. Breakfast was good."
