"We were greeted by a wonderful friendly manager (owner?) who stopped traffic so we could find a free parking space, helped us with our luggage, give us great suggestions for sights and food and generally made us feel very welcome. "Beautiful peaceful location set in the mountains and overlooking the ocean with breathtaking views. The house was spacious, comfortable and very well equipped with everything we needed. The owner was friendly and helpful too. My only criticism is it could have done with a good clean and good airing and updated bed linen and to have had a maid to at least change to towels. We also couldn’t find the outside bins and recycling so clear instructions would help but apart from that it was perfect."

"The location is about 20 km from Maratea and about 1 km or so above the beach and perhaps 600 meters to an old village, The photo of the water is NOT from the suite, which looks out over backwards and an a soccer field with the sea in the distance. I'm not sure if this is listed as a B&B, but our host left us a home-made cake and a bottle of nice juice; we were there for 3 nights. "Il Santavenere is definitely a 10/10 experience. From the moment you arrive you are in a true oasis - just what you want from a break by the sea. The staff are all (and I mean all) friendly, personable and helpful. The rooms are luxurious, including the beds and washrooms, without being overly showy. The views overlooking the sea are stunning. Maratea itself is definitely a nice little town and Il Santavenere is a hidden gem in Basilicata. We're already planning our next trip back and can't wait to be there again!"
