There is also the interesting story about the old funicular railway to the rear of the hotel which closed in 1977 but may be refurbished and reinstated if funds can be secured. It is a rural location, about 20 mins walk from the nearby town of Lanzo d'Intelvi and the bus service from Como drops you about 400m from the hotel reception if you aren't driving.
