2/10 Terrible

"Hotels.com had cancelled my booking without informing me. I arrived at property with no accommodation booked. The Hotel were more than helpful in getting things sorted. I contacted Hotels.com and to be honest they were as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike and really didn’t give a damn whether I had accommodation or not, now I can stand on my own 2 feet and sort things out myself but a vulnerable traveller would have been different."

8/10 Good

"Relatively a new facility, with a good location over-looking the river, very close to the train station, easy access to city center by Uber/taxi, tram, or by walking. Gym has good equipment, but limited. Staff very helpful. Restaurant is good, and also able to get refreshments, snacks etc for your room. AC was not as effective as needed for 100 degree heat wave. Rooms are a good size for EU standards with a good bathroom and closet space. Two small elevators, with one not working for 5 days was not helpful. Would stay again, as they are rebuilding the entire area near the hotel."

"I rarely write a review but I think this hotel experience categorically does not deserve a rating of over 8, given that our room: - was next to a public alleyway, meaning the curtains had to be closed the whole time, allowing for no natural light - had no door between the bedroom and toilet, with a short distance between the two, absolutely zero privacy I imagine we were given one of the worst rooms in the hotel, but regardless this is completely subpar quality for the experience expected!"

Hotel 56 - Bordeaux Centre Gare Saint Jean

6/10 Okay

"Great location if you want to be close to the train. A bit of a yucky walk with not much else around. Was excited for a roof top bar/restaurant, they only serve 3 course meals, no options for bar snacks or lighter meals which was disappointing. Rooms are beautiful, just very noisy! Especially my third night when I had to change rooms as it was an additional booking, was under the kitchen and they banged around until after 11 and were back at 530, so impossible to sleep. Absolutely do not use the laundromat near the train station, very scary and unsafe. "
