Cabin was great. The views are amazing and the cabin was very comfortable. We had a larger group (11 including kids) and we never fell cramped. Plenty of parking and great access to the trails right down the driveway. We will definitely be returning.
Peg was a great help. Communicated clearly, looked for ways to make our stay the best (which it was). All of my out of state friends now love Minnesota.
This place is a piece of paradise, hidden in a forest with beautiful views of the lake. The cabin instantly makes you feel like you are at home.
The owners are quick to respond but keep their distance for you to enjoy the seclusion of the cabin.
We definitely will be back to make more memories.

Nice cabin & lake, but beware of a “Karen” neighbor
Enjoyed our stay mostly. No complaints about the property itself. Property is nice & spacious enough for larger families/group, but kids can’t really be kids. Our group was out on the lake for less than an hour before we were confronted by a woman who claimed she own a property & therefore owned the shoreline also.
“Riparians are entitled to exercise their rights over the entire surface of the lake. One riparian cannot keep others from using all of the lake. Where access to a "wetland" is available from a public road,” Minnesota Statutes Section 103G.235
She paddled roughly 500 ft out into the lake to where we were to complain ask us where we “were from & must not be from here”.
She proceeded to exaggerate & accuse of being directly in front of her dock & overloaded on our 15 passenger capacity pontoon & being on the lake for several hours making noise. She complained the 3 yo crying as well. We responded respectfully & left the area shortly.
Owner was cordial & felt bad about situation, but ultimately sided with the “karen” neighbor. If you are a person of color, be aware you might get questioned repeatedly about your party count even though you have already confirmed it several times before & what the “karen” neighbor accuses you of will be taken as truth. Owner also proceeded to tell us about lake etiquette as though we are foreign to being on lakes/living on lakes.
We didn’t let the negative & prejudice insinuations ruin our stay. Kids had fun.

We stayed in cabin 6 and it was absolutely gorgeous. The log cabin feel was awesome. Lake was crystal clear and deep. Lots of laughs were had. Would definitely come back
This beautiful property is surrounded by a National Forest with much wildlife. The cabin is nestled on a hillside just above the lake, providing spectacular views. The firepit is close to the cabin, for easy pit stops. The dock is not accessible for people with ambulation issues, however there is a public dock the rented boat can pickup if needed. Best advice, bring bug spray, mosquitoes are bird sized and there are many of them! :)
Incredible log cabin tucked away in the forest. Great fireplace and space for the kids and parents to get along for long periods of time. Great fireplace and well stocked kitchen.Close to great ski trails - we will be back. Hopefully a summer visit as well.
We had a great time at this lovely cabin! It was a great setting for our families christmas celebration. Its in a national forest so its beautiful. The only thing we were a little bummed about is there was veryyyy few household amenities that you would expect at this price point and a place advertised for groups/families. No toiletries ( shampoo, body wash, etc), and only 1 roll of paper towels was left and only a few garbage bags and tide pods. for a group of 12, there should be more of these things available, or at least a heavy mention that they are not provided. I also think an investment in nice towels would be great. the only ones they had were old, scratchy and stored in dusty places. We are a big football family and it was listed there was a TV, but we were a little bummed that our Vikings game was on an old TV the size of a computer monitor... although, one could say the point of the cabin is not to worry about such things, so that point is super subjective and just something to keep in mind if you, like our family likes to bond over the heartbreak of the vikings losing.
But again, if you are looking for a lovely authentic Northern Minnesota log cabin to make lasting memories with your family, I recommend checking this place out! Peg was really nice and easy to work with. They even had a christmas tree set up which added a great holiday touch.
BuckHorns Resort at Caribou lake, Cabin # 6 was amazing! It had everything a family needed. We were never able to meet the Host, Peg and Tim., that goes to show that everything was in line! Great Family Vacation destination! I couldn’t have been more happy! Thanks again Peg & Tim!!!
I have never experienced a lake like Caribou Lake before! We were in northern MN, but the water made it look like we were in the tropics! Friendly hosts and a fabulous cabin made for an unforgettable week!

Perfect!
We had 8 adults and one baby and this property was perfect and included everything we needed (even a high chair!). Private dock for our boats, big kitchen for family dinners, great deck. It's a steep drop down to the dock but there were steps, just an fyi. Our week was perfect!

Stunning Location for Family Retreats
We celebrated Christmas 2017 at Buckhorn Resort in cabins 6 and 7. It was perfection! From the picturesque drive in to the cabins alone, we knew we were in for a special weekend. We had 22 people staying between the two cabins from ages 1-71, and it was perfect for every age. Whether it was the need for a portable crib, multiple sliding hills, relaxing in front of the beautiful stone fireplaces, steaming in the sauna, playing games where we could gather at the large tables or fixing numerous family buffets - they thought of everything a large family would need!
We are already looking forward to our next large family gathering at this cozy retreat!
Thank you again Peggy and Tim for providing such a beautiful and thoughtful place for families to gather and reconnect!

Better than the photos!
Had a family retreat and it was awesome. Peggy was very helpful and easy to communicate. We wanted isolation but there was another lodge nearby which was okay since it didnt look occupied at the time we were there. Other than that we have nothing bad to say about the place. We would definitely come back.
