Disappointing in the extreme
On arrival we were shown around by Manager James, who drew our attention to various faults: the ensuite shower was unusable, as it leaked down the walls of the kitchen below, and the lock on a door to the pool was faulty.
During our stay we identified over 20 other problems: Aircon/heating units in three bedrooms were faulty, the dishwasher didn't clean properly, the bidet leaked, the shower screen seal fell off repeatedly, there was mould around the bath and shower, slats under mattresses in two bedrooms broke and a nasty smell emanated from the downstairs toilet, etc, etc. Although mostly not serious, they were irritating as they showed a clear failure to proactively maintain the property, which was clearly in need of upgrading and refurbishing. All signs of neglect in what should have been a smart and well presented property.
Some of these problems were dealt with, although waiting for workmen to arrive did not feature in our holiday planning. After nearly two weeks of our four week stay, James offered to move us to a nearby villa, but this was too little too late and should have been offered on arrival. We declined, as, by then we couldn't face the effort of resettling, with no guarantee that the other villa would be any better.
Although apologies and compensation were given, these were sadly inadequate recompense for our worst rental experience in 14 years.
