"What a wonderful holiday destination for a large group. Perfect, as we each had our own identical villas, and the pool is a really great size. We loved the outdoor eating area with the bbq, and had many fun evenings enjoying the beautiful surroundings with our friends. The villas are situated in a lovely quiet area, and only a short walk to two lovely restaurants over looking the beach. There are also a couple of supermarkets, coffee places and bakeries with the best doughnuts! Just an 8 min drive away is a busier town with lots of shops and restaurants, so plenty to do in the area, but would recommend a car. Very glad we stayed for 2 weeks, as there was so much to do. Lots of lovely beaches, a great water park, historic sites, and we hired boats and went snorkelling. We loved Crete, and Maria and her husband could not have been more helpful. Would highly recommend."

"The property was excellent, great pools for the kids. However, the big pool near the beach is overly crowded and we were thankful that we had a smaller pool in front if our room. My kids loved it and the breakfast was excellent. We had an amazing time."

"We are a family of five and recently stayed at Villa Stratiana for 10 days. We had an absolutely fantastic holiday and would highly recommend this villa to anyone looking for a relaxing stay. Helen and her husband keep the villa immaculate, both inside and out. Everything was spotless on arrival, the air conditioning worked perfectly, and the villa was extremely well equipped. The kitchen had plenty of utensils, wine glasses, and everything we needed, while there were also lots of pool toys for the children and teenagers to enjoy. The swimming pool was definitely one of the highlights of our stay and was a huge hit with our teenagers. Combined with the absolutely stunning views, it made for a truly memorable holiday. The villa is located on the outskirts of Maleme, so we would recommend hiring a car to make the most of the area. The layout was perfect for our family, with everyone having their own bedroom, making it comfortable for all five of us. A special thank you to Helen, who kindly allowed us to extend our stay on our departure day because we had a very late flight. We really appreciated this thoughtful gesture and it made our journey home much more comfortable. We genuinely have nothing negative to say about our experience. We would happily give Villa Stratiana a five-star rating, would recommend it to friends and family without hesitation, and would love to return in the future. Thank you, Helen, for such a wonderful stay!"

Maleme Mare Beach Resort Hotel

"The hotel itself is immaculately maintained, with beautiful, well-kept grounds that create a lovely first impression. Housekeeping was excellent throughout our stay, and our room was cleaned to a high standard every day. The majority of guests appeared to be over 60, along with a few couples travelling with very young children, mainly from Eastern Europe. There were very few UK visitors during our stay. I travelled with my two teenagers (17 and 18) during the May half-term holiday, and they were a little disappointed that there was no one in their age group to socialise with. If you’re interested in boating or water sports, you’ll likely find plenty to enjoy. However, as my teens are non-swimmers and not particularly interested in water-based activities, we found there was less to do on-site. That said, the hotel provided information on local excursions and activities, which proved invaluable. We particularly enjoyed Pista Go Karting, which had excellent facilities and high-quality karts. We also took a Segway tour of Chania, which was both fun and informative from a historical perspective. One of my teenagers even went paragliding and was told it was the first time a hotel guest had ever requested it! Given the hotel’s typical clientele, that wasn’t entirely surprising. Most of the staff were warm, welcoming, and helpful. Special mention must go to Stavros and Elena, who were an absolute mine of information and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed"
