"This is a nice place to stay with it's own swimming cove perfect for snorkeling. We had a King room with a partial view. The listing said newly renovated, however this did not appear to include painting the bathroom or changing fixtures which appear out of date and worn but not an issue. The furnishings we good and housekeeping was excellent. The bed was very comfortable. Partial ocean view from the room means very very partial. I am not sure we'd pay extra for partial again as we could only see the ocean from the balcony at a very specific angle. The grounds are good. Complete with a sweet cat running around and plenty of greenery and beautiful landscaping. The gym, pool, and hot tub are all fantastic and well maintained. The Brown's Beach House was not our most favorite meal on the island. Their website description and what they deliver just did not align. The view is great from the restaurant and it is convenient, however the food was basic and sevice just ok. Brown's deli was ok. For the ambience of the place this deli felt less inspired. There are pastries and coffee. Everyone on staff at the hotel was very nice. We'd stay here again. The location is really nice and close enough to easily drive to Waimea or Kona."

"Our trip to the Big Island was a last minute switch from Kauai due to storms. It was our first time on Hawaii Island, and we hadn't done any research in advance. The Mauna Lani turned out to be a perfect basecamp from which to explore the island's volcanos, beaches, oceans, tidepools, and history. It was luxurious without being fussy. The staff were almost without exception were warm and helpful. Our room had a beachfront view that was gorgeous, and a large lanai from which to enjoy it. I'm not sure if it was because the hotel was not at full capacity, but our room was very quiet, and our every need was met instantly upon request. We had so much fun!"

"This property was the favorite lodging of the trip. Amazingly, it was not full. It is within 100 yards of Hawi’s main attraction, Kohala Zipline. The main building forms a square around a lawn-dominated garden: A vintage roadside motel combined with a cloister. Good dining choices are within a short walking or a slightly longer driving distance. Nearby sights/sites of interest include Pololu Beach and two churches in a New England style, both of which look great in the tropical setting."

"Our party included an extended family of 13 ranging from grandparents to grandkids. The house was a perfect fit with Hawaii style and comforts. We happen to be there when Hurricane LaLa was approaching and the host and his onsite overseer were proactive in communication. When the power went out that communication and care continued. If you’re going to be stuck due to bad weather, power outages, and closed state beaches, you can’t beat Puako. So many places to access snorkeling and sunsets. The house is a great location to discover Waikola, Kohala, and Kona. All in all, we’re grateful to our hosts for making sure we could enjoy the house safely and comfortably the whole time."
