Underground, riverfront home, 3 bedrooms on the James River in Amherst County

Built in 1979, Roby’s Cave offers a peaceful and memorable place to stay. Located on the James River in Amherst County this unique underground, riverfront home on 125 acres of farm land, features 3 bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms, full kitchen, living room and laundry room. River access for all guests. Frequent wildlife sightings include deer, bear, turkey, beavers and eagles. Come enjoy the river, watching trains pass by and taking in all that nature has to offer.

River access is available to all guests.
Swim at your own risk.
Please remember to bring shoes that you can wear in the river to protect your feet.
If fishing, you will need a current fishing license.

Kayak rental available for additional fee of $25/item per stay. We have six kayaks available.
Paddle/life jackets included.
Must sign wavier to rent.

Hunting rights for deer or turkey available for additional fee of $50 per hunter per day.
You will need current hunting license.
Must sign waiver to hunt.

Electric golf cart available for additional fee of $25 per day. Seats 4 people and is equipped with seatbelts. Enjoy a scenic drive down to the river. Please do not drive in grass at/around house or in the fields.
Must sign wavier to drive/ride in golf cart.

Guests are able and welcome to access:

-Underground house
-mowed property around house (regarding the hayfield all around-please don’t drive car/golf cart in this)
-all gravel roads down to river
-2 mowed spaces on the river bank (please don’t travel to neighboring areas at river-we live down hill from Roby’s Cave and will be happy to show you our space on the river)

Please do NOT drive (car or golf cart) on grass at/around the house or in the fields.

There is a garage on property near home-owner may need use of garage during your stay.
