Crowne Plaza Resort Petra by IHG

"There’s a lot to love about this place. There were a few disappointments too. The property was super clean inside and out! Everything was well presented. Freshly renovated. That’s a bonus. The rooms were cosy and had simply breathtaking views of Petra. The terrace and pool was lovely to soak up those views! The rooftop bar was closed sadly but we wandered up to take some photos at sunset. The staff were genuinely lovely. But there were inconsistencies. I had some issues with failing to book breakfast with my stay which got sorted eventually after Abdullah the manager stepped in. I also had a male housekeeper enter my room unannounced (do not disturb alert was on) and thankfully I was somewhat clothed. But it was moments away from being super awkward, as I had just been for a swim and was on my way to the shower 😅 All in all our stay was great. Location was fantastic, with the views and close proximity to the Petra gate, food was good, staff good, property gleaming. The restaurant and bar lacked charm. But the outside terrace made up for it. I would absolutely stay here again."

"This was a solid stay - just not what I was expecting. Two reasons - -the pictures on the site make it seem expansive…. That wasn’t my experience. It’s tucked next to a mountain with other properties right up against it, and off a busy road. I did the deluxe tent - it said desert views and the picture on the site was a lovely. My view was out to a courtyard tightly packed in other tents… not the expansive vibe I was expecting. Not bad, just not what I expected. (I think the front 12 bubble tents are the only ones with expansive desert views) -and it’s bigger than I realized - my bad for not researching better. Both nights I was there, buses of people arrived an hour or two before dinner. So the calm environment I was after all of a sudden changed to lining up with 100+ hunger travelers. As a solo traveler that likes chill vibes, this wasn’t what I was looking for. Yet —- solid. Food was good. Sweet cats on the property. Very kind staff. Comfortable room / bed / amenities."

"Beyond 5star! It is seldom in international travel that an entire hotel and staff can exceed all expectations. Mamoun Exec Manager and Thaer and staff from kitchen to room cleaning were beyond. I became ill with Flu and the over-the-top welcome attentive spirit had us extend 5 extra 5 Star days. Moreover, the entire Guide community, through Basal, Yuesff, Muhammad, among others in the Bedouin community remind us that there is a “Human” family and tribe of loving kindness that Yah instills in each of us if we but pause, put aside fears or prejudices and open to the miracle possibilities that God lays in front of our feet. Ultimately words fail, but heart open experiences are what real sharing and travel experiences are all about. Petra will remain in my heart as an amazing testament of what is possible when you let go and Let God! Thank you Aloha Mahalo from your Hawaiian Friends Amazing! Michael"

"Extremely convenient place to stay to get to Petra entrance, the Visitor Center and the Petra Museum! The staff are extremely polite and helpful. They even brought up a platter of fruit for us (we stayed in the chalet). It was a nice surprise after hours of driving. The beds and sheets are very comfortable and the shower water pressure's great. The Cave is a cool place, in fact, the whole hotel is built into the rocks of Petra, so it's definitely a cool place to stay. Breakfast opens early at 6:30 and has a very nice selection to fill you up for hours of walking or hiking, and I recommend the Jordanian dinner. Try to stay at least 2 nights so you can enjoy a FULL day in Petra at a minimum."

"Staying up on the hill at Petra Pillars made a big difference for us, it’s far quieter than the hotels packed right around the Visitor Center, and coming back to those mountain views and the pool after hours of walking was great."

"Great place to stay in wadi rum, the view across the desert for the sunset is amazing. All the staff are amazing and can't do enough to make your stay perfect. The food is fantastic, also definitely make sure you take the star gazing experience it's absolutely amazing!"
