#The neighborhood
Croix-Rousse,
The Croix-Rousse is one of the two hills overlooking Lyon. This unique neighborhood has Mediterranean accents, with pastel colors and breathtaking views of the city. Its Gallic village atmosphere invades anyone who walks there. Here we proclaim ourselves "Croix-Roussiens" before being Lyonnais.
The atmosphere is friendly and also a bit libertarian and militant. Deeply marked by his labor and independence history. The legacy of the canuts (silk workers) is omnipresent: at the origin of mutualist and cooperative movements, their famous revolt of 1831, one of the first workers' uprisings, had a significant impact in France and Europe. Still today, the neighborhood is peppered with local associations, independent creative studios, bistro libertarian and is gradually turning into hip hipster hideout.
Go awake your taste buds at the market, on the boulevard, then your pupils in front of the many points of view which are offered to you. Take the opportunity to descend the climb of the Grande-Côte. This paved pedestrian street lined with commerce is a perfect postcard: charming from beginning to end with its view, its typical architecture, its graffiti, its cafe terraces, its bookstores and its trendy shops ... The slopes of the Cross Rousse are inscribed on the World Heritage List by UNESCO, do not be afraid to push the doors to roam through the traboules. These passages covered yard in the courtyard of buildings allowed the silky easily transport fabrics from one place to another avoiding rain.
