"If you’re looking for peace and quiet and glorious views across Lubec Bay to Campobello and the open ocean, Lubec Bay Cottage is the perfect retreat. The cottage is clean and welcoming. It feels spacious and has plenty of indoor and outdoor areas to sit and soak up the scenery. It’s extremely well-provisioned with everything, from the usual essentials, to waterproofs and rubber boots, to Kleenex. The beds are very comfortable, although a little high if you're short! There's a walk-in shower on the ground floor.The cottage is conveniently located just a few minutes’ drive from West Quoddy State Park, Lubec village, and Campobello Island. The area is excellent for hiking, with many trailheads just a short drive away. If you're looking for a change of scenery, Eastport is about a 50 minute drive.The WIFI was on the slow side, but was completely reliable for the duration of our stay and had no trouble connecting a mid-morning Zoom call. We didn’t miss cable TV – the DVD selection was more than varied enough to keep us happy.Catherine is an excellent host, responding quickly to questions and providing an extremely thorough travel/welcome letter. Unlike some hosts, after a call shortly after arrival to make sure everything’s OK, she leaves you in peace to enjoy your vacation. We’ve stayed in Lubec several times before, and Lubec Bay Cottage is the nicest place we’ve stayed by far. We’d be likely to return if it’s available next time we visit."

"If I praise too much, I'll not be able to find rental time windows in the future, so I'll keep it short. This is the best place to rent in coastal Down East Maine...full stop. It is for us, at least. Decide what you want before you start searching for a summer rental: A camp...minimal accomodations, perhaps even an out house; A cottage...more or less complete with a small home feel; A summer home...this is what Mainly is...complete and comfortable in every way, and you can simply let the rest of the world slide off your shoulders. Clean, comfortable, accomodating, welcoming, highly useful, everyting works well. Enough said."

"For us, the large, securely fenced yard made all the difference for our Jack Russell. Beautiful views of the bay from the porch, the living area, and the upstairs bed room. The upstairs bedroom was very comfortable although the stairs are a little steep. Our host was quick to respond to any of our questions and the house is an easy drive to a well stocked IGA grocery store. I recommend bringing your passport and going to Campobello Island. See Liberty Point for some beautiful cliff views."

"Our 3rd stay at Seaside Sanctuary and this time we stayed 2 weeks. Stacey is always super-communicative and the house has everything you could possibly need. We were able to get in some nice day trips down to the Schoodic Peninsula of Acadia National Park, Milbridge, Calais, Eastport, Reversing Falls, Machias & Jasper Beach. We caught a sunrise at West Quoddy Head Lighthouse and explored Cobscook Shores and points around Lubec and the Bold Coast. We spent about 1/2 the time there just "being" at the house- soaking in the views, getting out on our kayaks and taking in the ever-changing tides, wildlife & scenery. And the QUIET; maybe the quietest place we have ever been. We were also treated to 2 nights of the Aurora Borealis, which were absolutely stunning! This is a very special & magical place and we will be back, hopefully sooner than later."
