Former station at Christow, 1984. View SE in the Teign Valley, towards Heathfield: Exeter - Heathfield (- Newton Abbot) line. Yet another station converted to a private house, Christow station had been closed from 9/6/58 along with the line from Exeter. However, goods traffic continued from the Heathfield end until later severe flood damage eventually led to closure from 1/5/61 as far as Trusham although the last section to Heathfield remained in use until 1/7/68.

In the 2nd century the Romans built a sturdy wall around Exeter, which lasted for centuries. However in the 4th century Roman civilization began to decline. The populations of the towns fell. The last Roman soldiers left Britain in 407 AD and the Roman way of life slowly disappeared. People drifted away from the towns to the countryside and returned to a simpler way of life.
