### A microcosm of history and culture: the cradle of the film industry
* Known as "Edendale" in the early 20th century, this area was one of the starting points of the American silent film industry.
* Several early studios, such as Keystone Studios and Selig Polyscope, were once located here.
* It was a historic venue for stars like Charlie Chaplin, Laurel and Hardy, and Walt Disney.
* Strolling the streets, you can still see many old Victorian-style buildings, stone steps, and historical relics.
Echo Park / Edendale: Early Film Industry
• In the early 20th century, "Edendale" was a famous hub for the early film industry surrounding Echo Park / Silver Lake. Many silent film studios were located in this area.
• For example, Selig Polyscope, Mack Sennett’s Keystone Studios, and Pathe West Coast all once operated along Allesandro Street (later Glendale Boulevard).
• Legend has it that the park's name, "Echo Park," was inspired by a park manager who heard an echo in the canyon.
• In 1892, the City of Los Angeles officially named the area Echo Park.
• As the city developed, the area's early rural landscape, reservoirs, farmland, and ravines gradually transformed into a residential community.
