Well presented, authentic and comfortable accommodation. It had all the little touches including hot muffins on a cold day, quality linen beautifully presented.
The property is superb, the owners are gorgeous people you feel like part of the family. I was staying in one night and a delicious home cooked roast was offered. You don’t get that from many places. A delicious cooked breakfast every morning, the best Bircher muesli I’ve ever had.
Love the place I have made it my stay place whenever I’m in Tasmania.
Amazing every thing, welcome, local info and that feel at home feeling. Breakfast was great, Great home made jams, stewed fruit. Freshly cooked muffins delivered to the room and a complimentary port to finish the day. A great two days. Thanks Annabelle
A beautiful relaxing old world Inn. My room was amazing, beautifully appointed antique furniture and nic naks . Very comfortable bed with quality bedding. Lovely place to stay.
The garden was a haven to sit and read or just take in the ambience.
Breakfast was delicious with home grown ingredients.
Loved every minute.
We enjoyed everything about this hotel, in particular, the exceptional hospitality of the hosts. Our room was quiet, exceptionally clean and comfortable, and lacked for nothing. Each day we were served a tasty breakfast in a stunning dining room with a roaring fire, and nothing was too much trouble for our hosts. We were made to feel more like family than guests. I would heartily recommend this hotel to anyone.
This place is amazing - great hosts, fantastic breakfast (the best I think we've ever had), lovely rooms and a good quiet location. The breakfast room is worth a visit - vaulted ceiling, large fireplace, comfortable couches... We'll definitely be back.
Annabel was the best host we had during our trip in Tasmania
The hotel was charming with a delightful breakfast and garden
Strongly recommend staying at The Racecourse Inn if you visit the Launceston area
Loved staying at the Racecourse Inn, couldn’t have chosen a better place. The hosts were so lovely making us feel right at home. Awesome breaky with cold & hot selections. Lovely veggie garden in the back yard along with 2 well fed sheep & chickens. The room was well appointed with a good shower. However the free wifi was a little slow but don’t let that put you off. Highly recommended!
This is a real gem. An historic building in farming Tasmania but only 15 mins or so from central Launceston. On the outskirts of Longford, it was quiet at night. Good bed, the room had everything we needed with many thoughtful touches. With double glazing and aircon, the occasional traffic on the main road was not an issue at all even to me, a light sleeper. Breakfast was really excellent too - set us up for the whole day ahead. The Inn has been very sensitively restored by the Hosts with a real artistic eye. How lovely to have such fresh locally sourced food, fresh cut flowers from the garden, and excellent advice for eating in the evening. We wish we had booked more thank one night.
Great time...........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
This lovely old building in situated amongst a beautiful english garden. We were welcomed at the front door by three little birds whose mother had decided to build a nest right next to the front door.
It is a lovely place to stay if you happen to stop in Longford in your travels. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the building has a country / homely feel to it. The rooms are bright and airy, ideally suited to a summertime stay.
Breakfast was plentiful and cooked to order. Great way to start the day.
Wonderful stay in a wonderful B&B. Worth every cent. Most hospitable hosts, friendly, helpful, informative, welcoming , faultless. Great service. Only place to stay in the town of Longford. Great breakfasts, with great local produce and providence. Will be back there again. A reason why Tasmania is such a great destination. Good proximity to Launceston and north east and the north west coast.
Longford itself is a heritage town adorned with colonial style houses, with Racecourse being one of them. The building style, the design and furniture retain all that classical touch, so an Jane Austen fan like me would literally fall in love with the place, but the hosts have freshended up the place to make it clean and comfortable to stay in for everyone. Not lacking in any modern comforts, not to mention the Port wine, cookies and jelly beans that were a part of the wonderful hospitality. Not to forget the garden, 2 baby lambs, and the chicken that are adorable.
An absolute recommendation if you are visiting Woomer’s Estate & Brickendon farm, or even if you are just stopping over for a night when driving across from the east coast to Cradle Mountain like us.
From checkin to departure we could not fault the Racecourse Inn. Annabelle and Richard were the perfect hosts. All beautifull fresh produce from the garden for breakfast in abundance. 10 out of 10 !
My partner and I stayed at the Racecourse Inn for a week. Both Richard and Annabelle were absolutely wonderful hosts and made us feel right a home from the very first day. The room was lovely and cosy, with little comforts such as a complimentary port, cookies and little water bottles, fantastic for the cool autumn weather in Longford.
The property is steeped in history and immaculately restored and maintained. Being only minutes from two world heritage sites makes it a fantastic base to explore the north of Tasmania, whilst still being able to return to a lovely comfortable country atmosphere.
I could not recommend the Racecourse Inn more if I tried, it is absolutely a wonderful place to stay for long or short periods of time, due to the fantastic hosts and excellent accommodation.
We stayed here as a last minute choice the night before heading out to the airport which is not far away. We had the Queen room upstairs. It was so lovely and comfortable. The bed was comfy and the room immaculately clean. Breakfast is ordered the night before and you get a lovely home cooked brekkie, very well presented by Annabel, the inn keep. The inn is full of history and interesting things and Annabel's beautiful art. It's close to the airport and several good places to eat. The gardens are delightful! The dining room had comfy seating, a roaring fire and a rare barrel ceiling. The details have been attended to properly in this place. You could just imagine the stagecoaches coming through in years gone by. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Tassie.
I chose the Racecourse because of its location--close to the Launceston Airport and to the major routes that would take me and my teenager to the National Parks where we were planning to hike on a short vacation to see Tasmania's natural wonders. But the Inn itself became one of the highlights of our trip. It is a beautiful old building surrounded by lovely gardens. The hosts were so friendly and welcoming and very helpful with our plans for day trips. The breakfasts were amazing; most of the items served had been sourced locally, including strawberries picked the afternoon before. Annabelle is an artist and we had a nice chat about colonial and contemporary art in Australia--anyone with a creative bent would be particularly welcome here.
