"The host was excellent — quick to respond and genuinely willing to help whenever we reached out. That counts for a lot, and it's a big part of why this is a 4 instead of lower.A few things future guests should know:Cleanliness. The house hadn't been cleaned well before we arrived — dust and cobwebs throughout, and garbage left in the outdoor shower. With a cleaning/service fee over 400, we expected a much better result. If that's what the host is paying for, it's worth knowing what's actually being delivered.The basement. As some reported, very musty, and the carpet was soaked through. We bought air fresheners and moisture absorbers to make the space usable. When we raised it, we were told that basements on the Cape are damp. That's fair as a general rule, but water coming up through the floor seems like more than normal humidity and worth a closer look.Supplies. We had to buy our own toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap and hand soap. The listing seemed to indicate these were provided, but it appears you are dependent on what the previous groups leaves as they were all basically empty on our arrival. I'm sure the host would have provided more if asked but they should have been there to start. None of this ruined the trip, and the host's responsiveness went a long way. But the cleaning quality and the basement moisture need attention."
