"Great location if you are looking for an affordable and practical alternative to staying in central San Sebastián. Pensión Beizama is in a quiet area of Astigarraga, with a bus stop about a 3-min walk away. Buses run regularly into Donostia/San Sebastián, passing the main bus station and continuing into the city centre, with a stop by Hotel María Cristina. I travelled alone and felt very safe in the area.
The pension is above a small local bar/restaurant, which was very convenient for a quick breakfast and served good tortillas. They also serve meals, although I didn't try them. Within about a 5-min walk there are other local restaurants and places for pintxos, as well as small market and a bakery. I actually enjoyed being in a more residential area and seeing a bit of local life rather than staying right in the tourist centre.
My room was clean with a small balcony. It was compact but perfectly functional. The bathroom was also small, but the shower area itself was spacious.
This is a very simple, no-frills accommodation, and the price reflects that. There are three flights of stairs and no lift, and there is no AC. This wasn't a problem at all during my stay in the second half of September, when the temperature was very comfortable.
Check-in and check-out were both quick and straightforward. Juan is really friendly.
Overall, a simple, clean and good-value place to stay, with very convenient public transport."
