"Very central right at the end of the Cumbria Way walk and next to the cathedral. We were able to park at the rear arriving just before 3pm. We had a twin room which overlooked all the roofs of the additions done to this hotel over the years. There wasn’t air conditioning in the room and our main window wouldn’t stay open without the spare toilet roll supporting it! Pigeons are an issue here with deterrents fixed to the window sills but they disappeared late afternoon. Our room was quiet at night. Water pressure was good for the shower but the floor did get wet as the shower screen wasn’t adequate. We stayed for breakfast, buffet style, which could have been a bit hotter. Overall it’s a lovely looking hotel from the front but inside there were areas of worn carpet to our room (248) and it looked a little tired in places."

"We had a great stay . Beds and pillows were really comfortable room was cool and a good size even in this hot weather . There was a fan in the room if needed Room was very clean great stay and good value. Being close to the motorway the rooms surprisingly quiet . Would defiantly stay again . Be aware if you book through a 3 party site you need to pay a £5 parking charge per night . If you book direct you do not . Breakfast is served at the services opposite the hotel Well done hotel team ."

"My friends and I stayed overnight during our road trip. We chose the hotel because it was along our route and had ample parking available. We were expecting a comfortable stay, good hospitality, quiet surroundings, easy parking… and that is EXACTLY what we got. Zero complaints and would happily book again if in the area."

"Great value stop over. Lake View room (number 7) was a good size and comfortable with lovely view. Couldn’t hear any traffic noise. Booked double for us and pull out for our teen which consisted of a mattress on the floor. Looked like there had been a leak from bathroom above ours that still needed attention as there was stains and some mould on that part of ceiling and a strong damp smell in the bathroom. The extractor fan was also very noisy. Had a lovely walk around the lake - watch out for dog owners who don’t pick up! Head over to the garage for M&S Simply Food if you fancy a picnic style supper or breakfast; or buy food vouchers (£7.50 for £10.00) which can be redeemed within the services. The Scottish breakfast was plentiful and delicious for £9.99. Free parking - just remember to fill your details in at reception. Staff all very helpful and friendly. Would stay again."
