"Another great stay at the property. We were a group of 10 adults and there is plenty of space for everyone without it feeling overcrowded. Fantastic location whether you are walking into Aviemore itself, or walking in the other direction to Loch Morlich."

"There is no air conditioning, but the weather was cool in April, so opening the window for a few minutes before bedtime made the room comfortable. Besides A/C the only amenity that was missing was a microwave oven. The room was very nice and quite large, compared to the others we stayed in on this trip."

"Room was abit disappointing. Not very clean, mugs and spoons in the room dirty. The check in process was 25+ minute wait. We were looking forward to using the pool during our stay, to find out it was closed for a big chunk of the day and didn’t reopen until 15.30. By then we would have been travelling back home. I didn’t quite understand why the pool would be closed bang in the middle of the day during the weekend. Quite disappointed in the overall stay for the Money we paid. We won’t be back. "

"We were woken at 7am by a fire alarm and had to evacuate our room with a baby and a 6-year-old, only for it to stop before we even reached the muster point. It was later explained, quite casually, that it was caused by someone showering with the bathroom door open. Given there’s a sign warning about “sensitive” alarms, this doesn’t feel like a one-off and isn’t acceptable in a family hotel where sleep is already precious. We stayed at Macdonald Aviemore Resort as a family of four. When we raised this, along with a broken kettle, reception initially offered complimentary breakfast but later withdrew it after checking with a manager, which felt poorly handled. The hotel itself feels tired and in need of investment. Our room was small, especially with a cot, the shower was only lukewarm, and carpets were dirty with an unpleasant smell. The lift also smelt strongly of smoke. There are positives: the pool and facilities are good and we enjoyed them, though some maintenance is needed (hair dryers out of order, puddles on the floor, drains not very clean). The outdoor park is great for kids but also showing wear. Aviemore is a fantastic location, but the resort feels like it’s relying on that rather than maintaining standards, it’s certainly not 4 star. With better upkeep, it could be much better."

"Living area and kitchen lovely and clean, fresh looking and nicely decorated. 2nd bedroom very small, and beds much narrower than a single bed, my small daughter had a terrible sleep due to banging her head off the wall every time she turned over. There was staining on the sheets in the small bedroom too. Flush on toilet is loose, but a great shower. We tripped over the 1st step outside which was loose, maybe something guests should be warned to look out for.Out of date food left in the freezer. Overall it was fine for one night but we probably wouldnt stay again. 50 cleaning charge very steep for a 1 night stay. No welcome basket of any sort.Communication with the hosts was very good. Great location for exploring local area and a short walk to restaurants."

"The host has thought of everything for all seasons with games room , outdoor games and hot tub , the house is equipped to a high standard . The provision of a meal on first night is a nice touch . The games room provided great entertainment for our family. Hot tub was great to relax in after a long walk , property is a 15 / 20 minute walk to centre. Would definitely book this house again as we like the area"
