"Pear Tree Cottage. Business traveller...plenty of parking, plenty of space to work, comfortable double bed, wifi is good, shower is good, hot water plentiful but no shower gel's or shampoo provided. The towels that are provided are older than me and are in a size more akin to hand towel than bath towel. So pack your toiletries and towel before you arrive. The property is in a lovely rural location and can feel isolated, so as there is no access to food on / near site either come prepared or get ready for a drive. As a self catering holiday let, I'd dare say again; plenty of parking, plenty of space, good shower, comfy bed, good wifi........BUT.....I would add no welcome basket upon arrival. There are no shops nearby (that I saw) so take with you whatever you think you'll need and this includes tea, coffee, milk and sugar! Entering the lounge / kitchen I found a packet of biscuits (thank you very much) and a box of six coffee sachet things that you pour into a mug and add hot water....there was no milk - fresh or UHT, no sugar - I assume the gifts had been left by the owner as a welcome but equally could have been left by the last guest much like the random assortment of half used sauces in one cupboard. Being very fussy, there are plates, cups and mugs etc but nothing matches and it all feels old and unloved. Great location for a romantic break or to disconnect. It's a good facility, not bad, not exceptional, just.....good. Good value but wouldn't stay again."

"Staff were really friendly and helpful even when they brought me a meal I didn’t order. There were signs saying they had a major refurbish. Not in the room I was given they hadn’t. Room 708 carpet was filthy the surfaces were peeling off the furniture. The shower door is broken. I had two tv’s but no remote control. There is a kitchen area but I couldn’t use anything and wash it up cos there were no tea towels. I admit I didn’t complain but that’s cos I was there for one night. If it had been more I would have said something. Definitely NOT worth the money they charge for the room."

"Overall always a wonderful experience at the Haslem, great location with lots of parking. Staff are always lovely and accommodating. Food is great and it's a very modern hotel with nice big clean rooms. Anytime I'm in the area I will stay here! No complaints at all from me."

"We had a wonderful stay in Hillsborough, our room was stylish, so comfortable and clean. "

"This cottage was quite literally perfect in every way! Our hosts were incredibly responsive and helpful while we were traveling from outside of the country to make sure that our stay was even better than advertised. The cottage is cozy, so best for 1-2 people to stay versus 3 or more. The kitchen is fully equipped, and the living room fire place was perfect for a cold night. The location is unbelievable. Situated right in downtown Hillsborough, you're able to quickly walk to a bakery, pub, restaurant, Coop, and everyone in the town was incredibly friendly. Parking is a little tricky if you aren't comfortable with tight spaces but the neighbors were wonderfully helpful and understanding. If you don't plan to drive, be warned that ubers aren't frequent in the area, and the taxi cab companies will service but need advanced notice. The hosts provide great instructions and go above and beyond to make sure that you're aware of that, and who is a trusted vendor to call. We hope to be back here as many times in the future as we can! "
