Summary:
Welcome to this beautiful one-bedroom apartment with a warm, welcoming tone, in the vibrant area of Santos.
The Space:
This home is a stylish and comfortable place to call your home away from home.
A real highlight of the property is the stone wall in the living room which lends a stylish rustic feel to the room and creates a unique sense of personality in the home.
Take the weight off your feet, chill out on the sofa and make yourself at home! The sofa even converts into a single sofa bed to accommodate an extra guest (it will comfortably fit one adult or 2 children/small teenagers). Please note there is no TV in the house as I believe it preserves the zen feeling of the apartment. In the kitchen, you’ll find all the modern appliances you need to cook a delicious meal that you can serve to friends or family sat around the dining table.
The master bedroom has a super comfortable double bed with fresh hotel-quality linens. There’s also some storage space so you can unpack and settle in.
You can freshen up in the comfortable bathroom where you can wake up in the morning to an energising shower. Towels and toiletries are provided.
The property will be professionally cleaned before your stay.
Guest Access:
You will have access to the entire property and it is important that you are respectful towards your neighbours and keep noise to a minimum after 10pm
You may occasionally hear noise from neighbouring apartments, as most buildings in Lisbon aren’t soundproofed!
The Neighborhood:
Nestled right on the banks of the Tejo, Santos is becoming known as one of Lisbon’s newest cool areas full of young hipsters and bohemian artists. During a trip around the neighbourhood, you can enjoy the view out over the Tejo and admire the 25 de Abril Bridge; the stunning suspension bridge that crosses the river with a similar design and color to San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge. For a little high culture, head to the Basilica da Estrela which is considered one of the most beautiful baroque churches in the world. For a little peace and quiet, take a stroll through Tapada das Necessidades; the park between the Prazeres Cemetery and the Tejo waterline which features an array of wildlife and colorful abandoned buildings. Take a picnic to complete the trip. Finally, for something a little more unusual, you can enjoy an hour or two in the Puppet Museum, learning about the history of puppetry and seeing masks from around the world.
If you’re looking for a delicious bite to eat, then the Santos neighborhood will not disappoint. Hamburgueria do Bairro is well known as the best hamburger joint in Lisbon with 11 flavours of burger, including a tofu option for vegetarians. Meanwhile, A Travessa combines Portuguese and Belgian cuisine in a bohemian and relaxed environment. Clube de Jornalistas is a restaurant with genuinely tasty food and a wonderful dim-lit vibe. Frade dos Mares is a modern take on Portugues classics, including seafood and octopus. Bonus point: the staff! Finally, Ilhas Gregas offers an authentic Greek cuisine in the heart of Lisbon. For an evening drink, try Matiz Pombalina for classic cocktails in an 18th-century building where you can tap along to the rhythms of jazz and soul. You can enjoy reasonably priced drinks and mix with the local Lisbon bohemian crowd at Art Bar, or alternatively enjoy a sunset drink at Park, the last floor of a parking lot that has gained exponential notoriety since its opening a few years ago.
Tower of Belém, Jerónimos Monastery, Praça do comércio, museums (the Ancient Art which is 2 steps away) are all famous points of interest very close to the apartment. The location is also very well served by public transportation (bus & tram).
Santos is a residential area and increasingly fashionable, many workshops of architecture and design, several embassies in the area. In addition to design shops, there are also galleries, museums and spaces for artists' cooperatives.
