A good vibe in the bar area in the evening. Noise from bar area not noticeable in our rooms. Great staff, decent self catering facilities if required. We stayed in the villa room, my wife and I downstairs, 3 adult kids upstairs. The bathroom is ensuite with our room but not a problem, shared bathrooms for communal use are 30s walk from the room.. The worst thing for us was the cold: the central heating for the room and the living space wasn't working, not good for late January.

Not a typical hostel

A private room with private bathroom was booked over a few weekdays. We saw a "present" in the toilet and trash already in the bathroom trash upon arrival, but the rest of the room including floor was clean (It looked like someone sat on the bed though). The rest of the stay was great with peaceful evenings, good sleep, clean/fast elevator. The top floor of the building was quieter than a hotel even with lively bar area downstairs, so people who want noise can have noise, and also people who want quiet can have quiet. Breakfast was satisfying (not donuts) and replenished when needed. Location was within one mile of a major train station/bus depot, stores/supermarkets, parks/cathedrals, restaurants/bars. Staff happy to speak English. Stay was pleasant.

Great first experience of a hostel! I felt totally safe as a solo female traveller, the hostel was clean, modern and the staff were friendly. It was also in a lovely part of the town!

Nice place, good location

Check in was fine The family villa is very specious and comfortable, the 2nd floor wood has some holes in it which made my kids afraid to walk on the floor. Shower had very weak ventilation and therefore was smelly after short use

I liked the area which is a monument of France and the nearby park, I didn't like the fact of not being able to see the Roland Garros because they don't have a TV. Also Breakfast did not seem that appealing for the price. There was no clarity as to where the C10 could be found, the exits of the Gare are multiple. It would help if it was described as on the same pavement as the Lille Europa station.

Grand point négatif : un des volets du velux… N’existait tout simplement pas. La lumière donnant directement sur le lit. J’ai informé la réception qui n’avait pas l’air de s’en soucier. La télévision lague beaucoup. Le drap de matelas tenait à peine, faisant que l’on se retrouve à même le matelas (ce qui est désagréable). Mais au vu du prix et de l’emplacement assez centré, cela peut se comprendre.

Petit déjeuner sans oeuf, sans jambon, pas de petites cuillères pour la confiture, jus d'orange industriel, il n'y a que le pain qui est frais. Aucune communication entre le serveur et les clients, aucune amabilité avec l'équipe présente, ambiance triste, heureusement que la musique est de qualité le matin. Pour la chambre, pas de rideaux aux lits donc très peu d'intimité...

Het Hostel The People in Lille ligt op loopafstand van alle gezellig restaurantjes in het oude deel van Lille. Het personeel is heel vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Ze bieden 's morgens een ontbijtbuffet aan met lekkere koffie, broodjes, beleg, kwark enz. Echt meer dan voldoende. De bedden liggen goed en het sanitair is netjes. Het terras buiten is mooi en heeft een meerwaarde. Wil je binnen je budget naar Lille, dan vind ik dit hostel een aanrader.

Logement ultra bruyant pendant les 3 jours où nous sommes restés (musique à fond, cour intérieure qui résonne et qui sert d'extension au bar, règles sur le bruit pas respectées, pas vraiment de soucis du respect des autres). Les chambres sont soi-disant insonorisées ce qui n'est absolument pas le cas. Literie de base. A 75 euros la nuit, ce n'est pas acceptable.
