"Breakfast was great. Staff is great. Our only problems were flooding related not anybody’s fault. "

"Definitely not a 4 star resort. First we were charged an amenity fee which they explained covered having a washer and dryer in the condo, a pool, and first come first served parking. Gave 3 stars because the manager did round up other amenities listed in the listing (blender, dish drain, bowls, glasses, etc) and because of the inconvenience she refunded half the amenities fee. The condo itself was old and in need of upgrades. Sofa was old and worn with cushion zippers broken in the open position. The chairs in the dining area were old and flimsy feeling. Felt as if the legs were ready to break. We were told we didn’t need to wash the towels but the staff, with exception of the manager, acted as though we were inconveniencing them when we asked to exchange dirty for clean. I would recommend paying a little more for better facilities. "

"Beautiful grounds and shore even if not swimmable. Next door is a fabulous public park with playground and swimming area. Having no AC -- just open windows and ceiling fans -- left us feeling the muggy humidity. They have no lobby, feels like you are checking in at a very old Motel 6. Chickens everywhere, pestering us on the patio, roosters crowing -- that was a big drawback. "

"This is an awesome stay in Lihue, worked great for us as a landing site for the first few days, and loved that they keep it old school. Loved the office area with all the history. If we come back to Kauai we will stay here the whole trip. "

"Glad we stayed at Royal Sonesta for a week. My family had a great time. The swimming pool and Jacuzzi were clean and we spent a lot of time in water. The kalpaki beach access is a great convenience. The food at kukui restaurant was great. The staff were very helpful and the concierge helped me plan out my week to my requirements. The walkway in between the beach and Sonesta provided for some scenic evening walks. The location is ideal. It's close to the airport and many other attractions are within 30 mins drive. Highly recommend this resort. "

"Front desk staff was rude at check in, we were given the wrong room, the property is so old the air conditioners and front door were completely rusted out, and the cottage rooms are right next to a huge public park right out the windows and front door. "

"It was fine, room was clean, bed was tiny, very spartan, if you need somewhere to stay for a night it's ok, but don't expect anything remotely luxurious. We didn't get the breakfast, parking was available and free."

"We enjoyed our stay - the views of the bay from each floor was lovely. The beds were comfortable, and all the expected amenities were there. We loved that you could walk a short distance to an elevator that took you down to the beach and the resort next door. The owner/property manager was very responsive and fixed issues proactively that their cleaners brought to their attention. We would highly recommend."
