Lecco can be a good alternative to Como to explore the surroundings of this beautiful lake. It is reachable by train in about 40 mins from Milano central station. Once in Lecco, it is also possible to rent bicycles (there are many beautiful paths along the lake) or take a train to one of the little villages nearby.

"Giuseppe and his little bed and breakfast was a breath of fresh air! I recommend staying in a little town near the “main 3” Lake Como cities. Lierna was a perfect place to stay. This little B&B is convenient to the train station and water walkway. The food was delicious and we enjoyed the company and recommendations. "

"Het huis heeft een prachtig uitzicht over het meer. Dit maakt een hoop goed! Het huis zelf is nogal verouderd en heeft geen airco waardoor het in de nacht best warm was. Het huis is zelf wel heel ruim en sfeervol. Wat we wel misten was een fijne loungebank onder de veranda. De meubels zijn nogal gedateerd. Welkom van Joshua was nogal gehaast en hebben niets meer van hem gehoord in de periode dat wij er waren. Zwembad werd goed onderhouden en fijne plaats om te vertoeven. Kortom prima weekje...

"The property was very cute and had a fantastic view! Close to transportation and easy to get to Varenna and Bellagio. Alessandra provided very helpful instructions and we were able to visit Varenna and Bellagio in the short time we had. Thank you! We loved the decor and had a wonderfull time! "Pros: God beliggenhed tæt på stranden, og udlejers hjælpere var meget venlige og hjælpsomme. Cons: Aircondition anlæg havde svært ved at klare den høje fugtige varme, så det dryppede indimellem med vand fra dem. Dog var det dejligt, at der var aircondition."

"Immaculate, spacious room, and comfortable bed. Strong, hot, shower. Decent air conditioning. The only oddity is lack of microwave, but you get an oven instead (and food reheated that way tastes better, anyway). If you like windows open, the road by the property is not quiet on weekday mornings, and there are no reliable spots to find food anywhere near the property. But that's kind of an Italy thing, anyway. Learn the bus system before you arrive -- it's state-of-the-art and your best bet in the hills. "
