8/10 Good

"Very nice but no lift."

Offenburg City by Belvilla-Family Room

10/10 Excellent

"Tried to check in early and used help on chat line. Was rerouted several times and never got a straight answer from the remote help desks. We came in 3hrs before check in time. Nothing was resolved on our request for early checkin. I was given a number by help desk to call directly. Same result. Never got to actual reception for an answer. 2 hrs later, after a meal at a restaurant close to the train station we decided to just get to Belvilla. We arrived 30 minutes before check in time… no difficulty at all. We were checked in an went to our well prepared room. Clean!! So exhausted with the whole effort to try for an early check in, I crashed after an 8 hr train ride. Do not use the help center at all. Useless nor the chat box. I was forced to do an overseas call as the help center was located in England. I hate to think for all the time I was on hold and being transferred and put in hold over and over again, i’d have to pay for those calls when I hoped for expediency and did not get. it. The place itself was wonderful and I highly recommend it! I booked a family room good for 6 with 2 queen beds and a queen sofa bed. Only 2persons checked in so there was more than ample space."

Holiday Inn Express Offenburg by IHG

10/10 Excellent

"Staff at this hotel are friendly. The breakfast is your typical continental breakfast. Pastries, lunch meat cuts and cheese. The coffee machine could make lattes and espresso in addition to regular coffee. The elevators were both out of service on Sunday when we left, only one was working our entire stay. Location is prime for train travel."

4-Sterne-Superior Hotel Calamus in Kehl

8/10 Good

"This is a very good hotel - but there is one significant issue and that is the lack of transparency about the pool only being able to be used by nudists. We arrived at the hotel and it was 39 degrees - don’t worry I said to my wife we have a hotel with an outdoor pool. We were told at reception it was 10 Euro to access the spa and pool and the.n that we would have to do so without fabric - a German tradition we were told. This was really upsetting for my wife who folllowing a second case of Breast Cancer had been given a double mastectomy with reconstruction and was not comfortable or confident being naked in public. When I shared this point with the reception there was no empathy - rules are rules. All of this significant upset could have been avoided if the Expedia website and the hotel website were clearer and more transparent about the pool access being dependent on wearing no swimwear. If we had known this we would have booked another hotel. Anyway the rest of the hotel was very good - but please be transparent and upfront about this requirement."

Hotel-Restaurant Hirsch

10/10 Excellent

"I stayed at Hotel Hirsch mid June when Europe got hit by a heat wave. Upon arrival I was offered an apartment (Hirsch boarding house) which has AC for an extra of 10 Euros per night. The apartment was beautiful and sparkling new and the AC helped me sleep well at night. Breakfast was great and dinner as well. The staff was very helpful and welcoming. Definitely a special place and the price for the apartment was very affordable. I would highly recommend this place! It is also an alternative to pricy hotels in Strasbourg. If you have a car, it is definitely worth the 20 min drive."
