The Neighborhood
Launceston seamlessly blends city culture with country charm, offering heritage streetscapes, a spectacular urban wilderness, and world-class culinary experiences at every turn. In fact, it was named Australia’s Best Town to Visit!
When you stay here, you are surrounded by the best of the city:
The Food Scene: We are right by the illustrious Charles Street (often called the 'Lygon Street' of Launceston) and George Street ('Eat Street'), both packed with beloved cafes, restaurants, bars, and gin houses.
Local Culture: Walk to the vibrant Harvest Market every Saturday morning, catch a show at the historic Princess Theatre, or enjoy a cozy cinematic experience at the Star Theatre.
Cataract Gorge: A spectacular natural wonderland just minutes away. Enjoy scenic walking trails, freshwater swimming basins, vibrant wild peacocks, and the world's longest single-span chairlift. You can even experience it via a Tamar River Cruise.
City Park & Family Fun: Visit the beautiful oak gardens, kids' playground, and the famous resident snow monkeys at City Park. Nearby, Penny Royal World offers a fabulous day out with boat rides, cliff walks, and rope courses for the kids, plus a wine bar for the adults.
Seaport Precinct: Stroll along the edge of the Tamar River to dine at iconic spots like Mud Restaurant, Levee Food Co., or Spice. Just across the footbridge, you'll find Riverbend Park (incredible for all-day play) and the Boathouse Café.
Getting Around
While a car is recommended to get the most out of exploring northern Tasmania, our central location makes getting around incredibly easy:
Free Tiger Bus: Easy to spot with its Tasmanian Tiger stripes, this free city shuttle has stops right nearby outside Princes Square Park and the Launceston General Hospital.
Electric Scooters: You'll find purple "Beam" e-scooters scattered across the city—just download the app and ride safely!
Bike Rental: Head to Roll Cycles on Wellington St to rent a bike, whether you want a casual cruise around town or want to tackle our world-famous mountain bike trails.
Public & Intercity Buses: Metro Tasmania provides daily local routes. For travel further out (like Hobart or the North West coast), Kinetic and MerseyLink services have you covered.
Rideshare & Taxis: Uber and local taxi services are readily available, alongside airport shuttle options.
Other Things to Note
The Hill: Please note that the street this property is located on is steep. While the CBD is easily accessible on foot, the walk back features a significant incline which may be challenging for guests with restricted mobility.
Gardener: To keep our property looking its best, a gardener may attend to the outdoor spaces from time to time. While they rarely visit during a guest's stay, we will always notify you in advance if they need to drop by.
