little paradise

we have stayed twice before , this time , we rented a villa everything about the place is great . only problem this time was that we only got hot showers twice in 4 days , for the price , it is not acceptable!! also the level of the restaurant , is not up to par , compared to a few locations we have been to , they should really look into upgraded the cooking!! but aside from that we love the place ! we are lucky enough to be chefs , and know where to go buy fresh seafood locally , and we make ourself at home , with our cooking and wine drinking!!

Clean and beautiful!

I never leave reviews but I had to for this resort! So so nice!! Very good service! I like how they had free beverages in the room and waters everywhere for us to enjoy without worrying about the extra charge. Quiet and serene the grounds are amazing! Loved it.

Although it’s advertised as a hotel, it’s actually a condominium where individual owners rent out or sell their apartments. This completely changes the experience, as there’s no real hotel service or consistent hospitality. At the beach club, property owners have special privileges, and the staff makes that very clear — you definitely feel like a second-class guest. I wouldn’t return and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone expecting the comfort and standards of a proper hotel.

This place is paradise. The hotel is perfect, recently renovated. The staff is beyond amazing with a perfect smile on their faces all the time. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. Their Dominican breakfast is really delicious. The beach, I have no words. Service at the restaurant by Arelys and Horton was top. The receptionists are also super helpful. Security to enter the property makes you feel really safe. I’m definetely coming back.

The beach area was nice and clean. The ocean view from the resort is breathtaking. The pool looked dirty and the tile around the pool had black mold all around. The room that I stayed was outdated, the furniture looked bad and the bed was uncomfortable and smelled like mildew. On the last day of our stay the resort ran out running water while I was in the middle of a shower I was offered gallon of water to finished my shower and rinse my hair out. Also no running water to flush the toilets. When I called the receptionist, I was informed that the issues with the water was going to be resolve in 1hr, I left the resort 2hrs latter and still no running water. There was only one restaurant open during my stay there. The food prices were outrageous and not many choices to chose from. This property is not a 5 star hotel like it is advertised, more like 3 stars.

The property is postcard beautiful but we didn’t like our room. The sofa was damp, as if it had been shampooed and not dried (they put a nice blanket on it which made it fine) but the room also smelled like smoke which was quite unpleasant. The a/c was very loud and created an intense vibration in the kitchen, one bathroom and part of the bedroom. Two of the sitting chairs were the most uncomfortable chairs we’ve ever sat on but the bed, sofa and dining chairs were very comfortable. Sleep wasn’t good because of the a/c noise (louder than any of the other 4 hotels we stayed at on our visit to the Dominican Republic and louder than any hotel I’ve ever stayed at anywhere). So while the hotel is stunningly beautiful outside, it was our least favorite on our trip and we won’t return.

This visit went beyond our expectations. Have you ever experienced a place or restaurant that you almost hate to share because you feel like it’s your personal hidden gem? Sublime Samana in Las Terranas is now our private getaway spot. It’s essential for you to reconnect with yourself and your partner. But if you simply MUST bring the kids, this is as SAFE and amenable a resort as you can find in the DR. My fiance and I were literally stunned from the moment we stepped out of our car. The staff is a collection of humble, helpful, and peaceful characters. With a special thanks to Karina, Yefry, Jose, Jose, Jose, Juan, and Rony! (If I’ve forgotten anyone, please forgive me, friends!) Although we are planning other trips to the Caribbean and Europe in our future, if we ever need to disappear to a place we love and trust. We will be coming home to Sublime Samana and hang out with our people. A , 5-stars…a magical experience!

Casitas are NOT in good shape...urgent repairs.

We rented a Casita with Jacuzzi in rooftop. I had been here about 9 years ago, and you can tell the maintenance has been 0 since then. Broken fridge, stove, oven, dish washer, hot tub, broken glass in balcony (serious danger for toddler), kitchen leaking gas... its a long list, just beware to keep your expectations close to reality. Also, the food needs an urgent revision- we continuously ranked food a 2/5. I am sure they can fix this, however, it was not a good experience, and speaking to other guests they all agreed. Regarding the hotel and beach: They remain to be the most AMAZING place, relaxing, and beautiful location, almost unbeatable. Gardens are beautiful. Best pool to relax.The staff in general was awesome, the great service of Jose made a difference in our stay. They do need to fix the casitas if they want to keep the "small luxury hotels" seal and Conde Nast Recomendation.

A Beautiful Escape with Room for Improvement

Sublime Samana truly lives up to its name when it comes to the stunning grounds and serene beachfront location. The natural beauty of the area is breathtaking, with lush landscaping and easy access to the pristine beach, making it a wonderful retreat for those looking to relax in a tranquil setting. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, but at times, it felt like they needed more training—simple requests often led to confusion. While their warmth and kindness made up for some of the hiccups, better training would enhance the overall guest experience. However, my biggest disappointment was the mattress. For a hotel of this caliber, I expected a five-star sleep experience, but unfortunately, the bed was incredibly uncomfortable. A good night’s sleep is one of the most important aspects of a luxury hotel stay, and this fell short. Another issue was the bathroom lighting, which was way too dim. Getting ready in such poor lighting was frustrating, and it’s something that should be an easy fix in a high-end hotel. The dinner restaurant was also a letdown. We tried it the first night and never went back. The menu was very limited and significantly overpriced, especially considering the quality and portion sizes. Living in the DC metro area, I’m used to high prices, but these felt unjustified.
