Couldn’t have chosen a more beautiful spot for our weekend trip. With the fireplace, fire pit, ample supply of wood, the delightful coffee bar, and hot tub we barely wanted to leave, but walking around the property and checking out nearby parks made this a weekend worth repeating.

Wonderful house and property for a family to stay and enjoy all the amenities. George oversees everything and he was amazing with communication, information, making us feel so welcome. Also to note, the coffee bar is an excellent addition.
We had our Family with us and Celebrated my 60th Birthday. It was enjoyed by all with breath taking views. The home included cozy spacious environment with many things to do inside and out. The best was the Pond with all the fun memories.. really didn’t want to leave
This was a lovely house for our family reunion. The kitchen is sunny and bright and the dining room a great size for 14 people. There are thoughtful touches with a great coffee bar, smores and chocolates. There was lots to do with a fantastic games room, movies, hot tub and and fun boats. We all really enjoyed it.
We had an amazing stay at Thorne Hill! George was so accommodating and accessible. The property is amazing and the home has such charm and character. We loved cooking in the Kitchen with the fire going in the huge fireplace in the Family room. We even had snow so the kids could enjoy some sledding!
The pictures do not do the property justice. Incredible property with amazing views. Our jaws literaly dropped when we saw the master bedroom. The owner was very kind and had everything we needed and then some! We arrived to a smores kit laid out in the kitchen. Accessible, accommodating, and amazing are words to describe out stay.
We had such an amazing trip. The house is gracious and comfortable and large enough to easily fit our party of three adults and four children ages 11 through 17. The pond is so perfect for swimming and fishing. We played endless games of pool and the children spent endless hours in the hot tub. George is a wonderful host. He responded immediately to texts and was so gracious about checking in and making sure we were OK. We could not recommend his property more highly.
This is our third stay at Thorne Haven and while I didn't think it possible, it was even better than before. I have shared this listing with a number of my work colleagues and they all exclaimed over the gorgeous dining room, the huge kitchen, the insane number of books, games, and movies, and that incredible master suite. Argh, I almost hate to share, but I want Thorne Haven to be available for people to enjoy for years to come. The new stairs to get into and out of the hot tub are amazing for me (I walk with a cane) and while the basement is still has a mildew scent, the dehumidifiers have helped. There are so many hiking trails around, amazing waterfalls, the pond on the property itself is a treasure. I love the sense of history in this home and I wish I knew more about the family who built it, those who lived here, what they did... rambling now, but adore this place. And the current owner is a phenomenally lovely human who goes out of his way to make your stay memorable and relaxing.
Our family enjoyed a wonderful vacation !
House very clean, lots of space for kids and grandkids. Nice addition of the hot tub, we enjoyed it a lot! The added games upstairs were also enjoyed . Also a nice addition was A/C, especially in the 1st floor living area.
Hope to be back again !
Thorne Haven is a lovely home on beautiful and private grounds. It’s equipped with everything you need and more. If you’re looking for a place for a large group of people that offers space for hanging out and playing together or curling up with a good book, this is it.
S'mores, fishing with the kids, lots of playing pool. Great reconnection with family. Rickets State Park had beautiful waterfalls. A bear walked right up the driveway. Some rooms were a little dated, but everything was clean.
As advertised this place is huge and is very well stocked. Has a nice layout and is sits in a quiet setting. We had a small wedding ceremony there and except for the weather it was absolutely beautiful! We got to enjoy to all that it had to offer. We got to fish, play pool and enjoy all the wildlife. As advertised we got to see deer and a black bear. The only thing I wish was that we had a few more days to enjoy here! George was very helpful, accommodating and easy to communicate with.
Harry is an excellent property manager! Everything you could think of (except food and beer!) he did! What a wonderful property and experience. My sister and I had a great weekend, reliving our childhood experiences where our family owned property in the '70's and '80's. Great small group property and owner!!
We rented the property for a weekend in the mountains for hiking. It was perfect. It was ver clean and cozy. There were only three of us, but more could sleep there easily. We were only a few minutes from World’s End State Park and about a half hour from Rickett’s Glen. We brought our own food with us, as it did not look like there were many restaurants close by. The cabin included a large number of cooking accessories and a fully functioning kitchen, so meals were not a problem. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing get away in the mountains.
We loved the coziness and comfort in this rental hideaway. The beds were perfectly comfortable, the house was well stocked and very clean. We especially loved the dramatic fireplace that added warmth and light to the dreary days. The property was beautiful and secluded. We’d rent again in a heartbeat.
This was our third visit to Woodland Pines which shows just how much we enjoy staying here. Mr. Strausser provides first class accommodations for his guests, nothing is overlooked. We look forward to more vacations at Woodland Pines in the next year.
Excellent house located in between Worlds End, Loyalsock and Ricketts Glen.
Super clean, very thoughtfully appointed with attention given to detail, very comfortable beds, well stocked kitchen and baths, cozy atmosphere and easy communication with the owner. We will stay here whenever we return to the area!
We had an absolute perfect time. We were a half hour away from Rickett's Glen where we hiked. We had everything we needed at the house. It was quiet and very peaceful. Extremely clean.
