Welcome to the original Jack's Hut! A Lake Tarawera stay like no other and a piece of NZ history. Initially built for a South Otago farm in the 1930s, by Jack himself, this heritage hut is now perched on a hill in Lake Tarawera just 20 minutes from Rotorua. Boasting some stunning views of the surrounding native bush and the lake itself. This glamping hut oozes rustic charm and simple pleasures, from the swing chair under the covered deck looking out over the views to the cedar hot tub bath filled with spring water. Jack's Hut is split between two huts - the main hut has a very comfy queen bed, a small table and chairs and a fireplace. The second hut is a kitchenette and comes equipped with kitchen essentials including a fridge, kettle, plenty of pot, pans, a single halogen hob and utensils. A separate toilet adjoins. On the deck, there is outdoor seating for summer and a BBQ plus a fire pit to toast marsh mallows. Lastly, at the end of the deck, there is a hot outdoor shower, which is sheltered and private. A four-minute walk will have you at Stoney Point beach and stunning nature walk along the lakefront. There is also a tennis court, and great fishing off the wharf - bring the catch of the day home to cook for dinner! If you love outdoor activities and nature then this is the perfect getaway. The Tarawera Water Taxi is available to take you for a trip across the lake to the start of the Tarawera falls walk which leads to one of the most impressive waterfalls in New Zealand. The Water Taxi will also take you to hot water beach for a soak in the lake where the water is heated by the volcano. Also, one of the oldest mountain bike networks in the country is just 20 minutes drive away at The Redwoods. Master crafted trails, unbeatable riding surfaces with well-drained volcanic soils. With varying topography and fantastic scenery, it's no wonder mountain bikers regard it as a premier riding destination. You can hire bikes or bring your own. Charming, simple and definitely one of a kind - Jack's Hut awaits!
