"Very lovely resort property at the top of a mountain road. Immaculately clean, well appointed rooms. We arrived in late afternoon but could not eat dinner in the main dining room as they have set meal times and we would have had to have waited 2 hours for a table. "This place was great for the most part. It’s definitely a bit on the older side of things, but with that comes a particular charm. The room was amazing. Spacious, with its own gorgeous Onsen. No real air condition controls other that an analog “low, mid, high” toggle. The beds were very firm, which isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. The included kaiseki meals were spectacular. If you’re looking for a bread, eggs, bacon type breakfast this is not a place for you. If you want to experience the traditional Japanese meals, I couldn’t have been more pleased. In addition, there is a fantastic room service menu after 4pm. The common areas are well maintained. The public onsens are pristine. Location is amazing. The service was impeccable, as one expects from Japan. Everyone was kind, helpful, and respectful. The biggest issue I had was the smell of the hallway outside our room (3rd floor). It had a constant smell of food. It was a little overwhelming, but did not carry into the room. All in all, we very much enjoyed our stay and would recommend it for People looking for a traditional Hakone Onsen experience. I do believe the hotel could highly benefit from a remodel. It has the potential of being absolutely spectacular."

"We booked the ryokan with private onsen. It was worth every penny. We got the dinner and Japanese breakfast and was an amazing experience. The give you a yukata slippers and even socks to use. In from of the beautiful building is a garden. Also behind the museum in the corner a beautiful Japanese authentic restaurant, it was just beautiful. It was easy to catch the buses once we figured out which one to take. The outdoor private onsen has the shower next to it and it is also outdoors. The bathroom, toilet is inside. We just loved our stay there. For our second night we opted for the buffet in a sister hotel nearby but we should have stayed for the authentic Japanese dinner for the second time even though it is the same as the previous night. The room was quiet and peaceful. The staff very attentive."
