"Family-friendly property but definitely a bit dated. The elevators had a funky smell. The living space was huge and the in-room bottomless beer amenity was pretty cool. Overall, it wasn’t bad for a short weekend trip to Hakone. "

"The room was VERY spacious and clean. We appreciated the lobby area and while we didn't get the breakfast option, there was a vending machine in the lobby that required us to download an app to use. Unfortunately with us being from USA, to text us to confirm that we wanted to load the app didn't work correctly and we didn't receive the text. What we should have done was purchase food, snacks, drinks from Odawarai station. We did a day trip to Owakudani and on the way back via train, we got off on the next stop because there was a Lawson's across the street from the train station. We loaded up on food, snacks, and drinks and jumped on the next (every 15 minutes) train to Kawakidani. Rakuten Stay Terrace also had a gas grill on the balcony and we should have grilled a few items. Next time! "

"This Ryokan was outstanding. It was peaceful and stylish while also feeling authentic and very Japanese. We loved the private hot spring bath on our balcony and really enjoyed dressing in kimonos for dinner. I highly recommend this Ryokan "

"Awesome hotel! The whole hotel is so beautiful, and all of the staff was so friendly and helpful. We loved that there were restaurants and the onsen and spa on site so we were able to relax without even leaving the property if we wanted. Everything was clean and well maintained and all of the restaurants were delicious! I would definitely recommend staying here if you get the chance."

"The TEN-YU was an exceptional experience. The staff recieve you as if you just arrived home. The whole ambience is of relaxation and de stressing. Enjoyed a fabulous aromatherapy massage at the onsite AnSpa, which was in the most serene location. The Tepanyaki dinner was something else!! Beautifully prepared starters and delicious cuts of the best Kobe beef. We were able to unwind immediately from a long trip and made it a stay i will never forget!!!"

"We stayed here as a family of 4 in March 2026. We stayed in a Japanese style room. The room has a toilet and sink but no shower. There are both indoor and outdoor baths however which we enjoyed! The indoor bath change area is a bit small if there are several people using it at the same time. The outdoor bath is lovely and quiet but with no shower area to shampoo/soap up so you need to go down the stairs to the indoor area to do this. Both outdoor and indoor baths are separated by gender. The Japanese style rooms were very clean and there are instructions available to assist you in setting up the beds for sleeping. A couple of tips: The road from the station to Hakone Suisen is a short walk but it can be very busy with traffic and there is no designated cross walk. Crossing the road during mid day with luggage and children can be a harrowing experience! It was better in the early morning. Also, check in time is exactly 3pm or later. We arrived around 2:45 and were told to wait until after 3 which was fine as there was a nice sitting area and at 3 pm the staff promptly came to check us in. Just don't expect to check in early unless you make prior arrangements. If your commute gets you in before check in in may be worth just leaving bags and going out to enjoy the afternoon. The Open Air Museum was a highlight! "

"So relaxing and everything was great! The best part of our trip ! Onsen was awesome and private, the meals were A(+]. Just take a taxi ( we used the Go app) to and from the station. We walked uphill to get there, but streets narrow and we were a little concerned with the cars driving by."
