- Lake Lure will be undergoing a drawdown starting January 1st, 2025 through the first quarter of 2025(March 31st). The lake will begin to be lowered by approximately 1 foot per day until 12 feet has been reached. Infrastructure maintenance, dredging, and dam projects will be expedited during this time frame. These efforts by the Town of Lake Lure may affect access to the lake and restrict any lake usage. The lake will likely be back up to normal levels by mid to late April. While we understand this is an inconvenience, this does allow you to enjoy the full beauty of Lake Lure in the fall and holiday season.

The owner description lived up to our experience. Very clean and location is hard to beat. Only grievance is a few rather squeaky floor areas in bedroom to bathroom walkway - but it's minor when you consider that everything else is as described (good). Would revist for sure.Would r

Nearly 30 steep, uneven, rough-hewn steps to cabin from parking area to cabin and from cabin to lake. Not disability, handicapped freindly. Elderly and those with joint issues should be warned that this is not a good choice for them. For they young and physically able this is a lovely and well kept treasure.

Fun at Lake Lure
The location was perfect! We rented a pontoon for a day at Lake Lure Adventures and their shop is 5 minutes away. Lake Lure town is about 10 minutes away and we enjoyed Lured Market for lunch and a good craft beer. Grocery store is also <10 minutes.

Great week
The cabin was clean and adequately maintained. Did not realize that access down to dock would be so difficult. I have a bad knee and had to be very careful. The walking stick in the cabin made the walk possible. My daughter and grandson had no problem The dock, water, water toys were great!

Beautiful location + cozy, charming cottage
We absolutely loved our stay at this charming cottage. We loved being right on the water and the view from the boat house and the house's deck were incredible. It's a pretty small space, but was perfect for our family of four (parents + 2 kids, ages 14 and 9). The bathroom shower is very small and was a challenge for our son who is 6' 5". Also, like many of the homes at Lake Lure, it's quite a steep walk down the rock stairs to get to the home and then down to the water, so if someone has mobility challenges I wouldn't recommend staying here. It was a fantastic place for us, though; we loved our stay.

A serene stay
Lovely long-range views of Lake Lure from both the home's upper deck and the boathouse deck. Kitchen was wonderfully stocked with both cookware, appliances, and linens. We thoroughly enjoyed the lush landscaping around the fenced in property as did our pup! We arrived with a bag of floating duck treats and left with none (they were also enjoyed by the large trout that lives under the boathouse). My husband and I highly recommend this rental.

Minor dissatisfaction with the shower - very tiny. A handheld showerhead would help. On the deck over the boathouse, furniture wasn't ready for guests. Maybe less furniture/ less clutter? Great for a big party but not for 2. Otherwise we were extremely pleased with the comfort and aesthetics. Nicely furnished Very welcoming Charming cozy Lovely view. Enjoyed the view from inside and both decks. Location good. Missed out on kayaking and canoeing but maybe next time!

Sweet Spot
The little blue cabin is adorable, nestled on a quiet little cove near the dam and very close to good food at The Highlands Kitchen + Bar. It was spotlessly clean for our arrival. A couple cautions before I continue: 1) The bedrooms are compact; we found the space just right for two of us and our small dog, but it might have felt crowded with additional humans and their stuff. 2) The kitchen is also compact; we had to create pantry space on the open shelves between the fridge and the sink. Neither of those conditions should keep you away -- just plan and pack accordingly. Back to the good parts. The cabin's balcony and the boathouse rooftop deck are great for coffee or wine sipping and gazing out on the lake. Kayaks were sturdy and clean, and the adjustable foot rests and seat backs actually did adjust -- first time we've seen that in kayaks at a rental. We enjoyed our time on the water, and also a day trip to nearby Chimney Rock. Would happily return.

Great Lake Front Location
House is located in a perfect area close to town on a very quiet part of the lake. There were no shortage of indoor and outdoor activities, which came in handy during some heavy rain storms during our trip. Beautiful lake views and a quick stroll down the hill to get in the water.

Rustic- Did not meet expectation
The location on the water was very nice and peaceful what we wanted. I titled the review "rustic" because that was our parting summary. The cabin needs work beyond TLC, as stated in a previous review. The floors are very squeaky, to the point of waking others from sleep when walking around. I do realize this is a cabin, but this was excessively noisy. The entertainment and media package was disappointing. The larger tv in the living room was configured for DVD only, not for TV watching. The TV in the bedroom was much smaller with poor resolution. The internet connectivity was not available more than it was available, and wifi was at times available without internet. If this was our first time staying in Lake Lure, I might think this resulted from being in the mountains, but we know it is not. For the life of me, I looked and looked for the dishwasher as advertised and could not find it, it shouldn't be that hard to find in a cabin. I'm guessing the dishwasher is the guest. The screen door to the porch - the screen has separated from the frame and needs repair, so the door can be opened without bugs coming in through the screen. The deck and dock are very nice and provide a great view. The towels and sheets were very clean, so we thank you for that. Thankfully the water pressure in the shower was acceptable because the water flow in the kitchen was little more than a trickle. We didn't do much cooking in the cabin but what we did do the oven and microwave were great. Above all else, the coffee pot had mold in the water reserve was unacceptable. I did call maintenance regarding the internet, and they replied promptly and were very nice. But, unfortunately, he could not do anything to help but say he would let the owner know. The majority of the time, we could not access the internet. I would strongly recommend that you bring a hot spot if you need the internet if you are renting. This should be an easy fix for the owner, given the price per night that was charged.

Great weekend getaway
The best thing about this cottage is definitely the view! We enjoyed the views of the lake from both decks, especially watching the sunset. House description was accurate - we had everything we needed for a weekend stay. I gave the communication only 4 stars as we did not receive any check-in information until the day before we went which made me a little nervous. Televisions could stand to be upgraded and internet was very slow, but we knew that when we went so were not surprised. Having a fenced yard was great for the dog, but there are not great places for dog walking except on Neighborly Drive which is not very long. We had to drive to get anywhere for long walks. Overall we had a great weekend and enjoyed our stay.

Nice small cabin on a beautiful lake.
As advertised: Quaint and pretty 1 bath cabin with great lake views and access. Why not 5 stars? Truth be told, the cabin needs some TLC. Recommend the owner stay there a week and tend to the miscellaneous things like leaks inside the fridge, air conditioners not up to the task, screen doors that need repair, loose window hardware, really low water pressure (but hot water shower pipe adequate), sticky doors, need for more than two dish towels, patio shade not working, circuit breaker tripping in bedroom, etc.
