"Excellent place near Engineers Pass. For anyone wishing to truly get away this is the place to go. But make sure you have a true 4x4 vehicle and/or the experience to get there. The one downside, however, was the lack of communication during the second half of our stay as a new wildfire began relatively close to the cabin and particularly close to one of only two routes out of Lake City. Given the circumstances, it would have been the right thing to reach out to us and make sure we were informed of the situation. I have also not heard from the host(s) since informing them of leaving the cabin two days early because of the previously mentioned wildfire. Overall, this was still a great experience, but make sure if you go, know that you are truly on your own."
