Love this property. A quiet haven from the hustle and bustle of Kyoto. Continently located and beautiful onsens. Small rooms but very clean and efficient.

One of the best hotels that I have ever stayed, love the room , facilities, rooftop, onsen ♥️, breakfast, the crew , onsen was included, breakfast and some free drinks! The hotel is elegant, super clean , they give you shoes and robes , pajama , sleepers to use, breakfast was delicious. I absolutely love everything! My sister and I were super happy to stayed in this hotel

It's a lovely hotel, great value and excellent staff. I would stay there again if I were in Kyoto. Really loved the Onsen. Rooftop bar was so nice as was the complimentary first drink.

Value for price paid was underwhelming at this hotel. If you're looking for a traditional Japanese experience, this may work for you but we would've liked more amenities. As others mention, the rooms are VERY small by western standards. I was traveling with my mother and we did not feel the space was adequate to be comfortable in the room. The rooms may work better for couples or a single traveler but families should look elsewhere. Additionally, the hotel lacks meaningful lounge / shared space to compensate for the tiny rooms. I'd also note that the hotel only provides a traditional Japanese breakfast, whereas most other hotels we stayed (at this price point) offered a Japanese and western breakfast option. The main selling point for the hotel is the onsen, which we did not realize does not allow bathing suits so bathers must be nude. Perhaps this was poor research on our part, but my mother wasn't comfortable so she didn't use the hotel's primary amenity. The location is very central which is great but concierge advice on restaurants was underwhelming and no room service was available when we would have liked to order to the room. We took the chance on the boutique hotel but would have preferred amenities and room size of a larger chain hotel.

The roof top area for eating breakfast was a wonderful way to start your day while the free evening drink and foot bath was relaxing after a day of touring Kyoto.The bento breakfast boxes were excellent. The Onsen baths were great with one having a view of the mountains where you could see sunrise. Staff were excellent and committed to ensuring guests have a wonderful experience. Great value.

We absolutely loved this hotel! The facilities were beautiful with amazing onsens and lounge with free drinks on the 9th floor. The onsen overlooks the city views which are beautiful especially at night. There is also a rooftop bar with fire pits and comfortable seating. The staff were helpful and attentive. The rooms were small but eloquently decorated and extremely comfortable. We give this hotel 5 stars and hope to return one day!

Enjoyed the rooftop hot water foot spa and daily complimentary drink after walking miles each day. Hotel is perfectly located for downtown Kyoto just across the river from Gion. Rail stations within a few minutes walk. Great staff.

Excellent Hotel near many Kyoto Attractions
A truly beautiful hotel. The staff was excellent and had many English speakers, which helped me greatly. The onsens were always in great shape. The hot foot bath on the rooftop was a lifesaver at the end of each day exploring Kyoto. The room rate was very reasonable, about $125 USD/night. For a comparable hotel in my area of the US, you'd be looking at $300+/night.

The onsen was amazing especially the one with views over Kyoto. The bedroom was a bit cramped with one side of the bed being against the wall - not ideal for the person sleeping on that side. Do be aware of the need to book restaurants for supper - the first night we had to resort to a Family mart!

Overall, we did not enjoy our stay here. The rooms are insanely small - even compared to only the hotels we stayed at in Japan this place is very very very small. I cannot stress enough how small the room is - we had to walk sideways to get around the room, and my wife had to climb over me to get off the bed. Also, the rooftop foot bath is a scam. You don't get acces to it during the evenings because it is a "bar" and you have to buy a drink to be up there (which is not stated anywhere on Hotels.com/Expedia or the hotel website). This should not be considered a hotel amenity when the one time you'd want to use it (in the evenings after a long day out) you are not allowed to. The location is good - but it is a bit annoying to get to since there is no direct train from Kyoto station. The staff members we spoke to were rude and unkind overall.

Love the rooftop, hot foot bath and the views . The open air onsen was excellent. Hassles free check in and check out, staff were very friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is close to Kyoto-Kawaramachi subway (not covered by JR pass) station, Gion district , Nishiki Market, Kiyomizu temple and the upmarket shopping. We will definitely come back again….
