"We visited end of October. So colder season yet the outdoor pool wasn’t heated. The indoor thalassotherpay was extra charge which would be fine except it didn’t give you access to all amenities. You had to pay for every single thing rather than one entry that covers the whole stay. The entry was timed as well. And no discount for hotel guests. Location very secluded. Nice in a way but also Ken’s you are stuck there with not much else to explore. Walking/ hiking outside the hotel didn’t seem an option despite the lovely nature surrounding it. Not sure I would recommend for sightseeing like us but I can see how it’s a nice retreat for locals from the capital who escape for the spa and ambience."

"Perfect stay, really enjoyed the Marco Polo. Can’t fault it. Nice and relaxing, with activities during the day provided by the hard working animation team and entertainment in the evening, local Tunisian acts and the Dj plus also the entertainment team. Hope to return again. Thanks"

"This is a good hotel that is having trouble keeping up standards. The staff are usually very helpful, and the beach is one of the best. However, so many small things were annoying. Even as we arrived, the receptionist had written down our room number ambiguously in a way that caused us and the porter to go to the wrong room. The first few days were hot even by Tunisian standards and the room air conditioning could not cope. It was always too loud, but at least was fine as the temperature dropped. Food smells were strong from the balcony or the halls. The shower door allowed water to flood out after use - this was fixed after we complained, but proof of poor maintenance. Our room card stopped working after exactly seven days - even though the hotel knew how long we were staying. If their policy is just to grant seven days access they must tell us surely? One of the most annoying things was the ATM never worked for us, or anyone else. This would be no issue in many places, but the Steigenberger is isolated and needs a drive to get to a working ATM in the town. The basic standard of the food was fine, but there was a lack of actual Tunisian food in favour of bland euro stuff. Unforgivably, there was no decent coffee - only instant Nescafe - completely unforgivable in a country with good coffee, For this reason alone, I won't return. We think the small beach restaurant gave us a stomach bug from hygiene problems. These could all be fixed, but limit your stay until then!"
