  • Captain's Perch D4001 will provide your group with 5-Star accommodations as this home was renovated from top to bottom and professionally decorated.

    This house is a short walk down the block to the North Point community private beach access to the ocean and across the street from the community's private dock on the bay where you can kayak, fish and go crabbing! In addition, there is a community pool across the street from the house along with tennis and basketball courts. This home truly has the full package with (Linens Provided), and you will remember all year what a wonderful trip you had at "Captain's Perch!".

    “Captain's Perch” is conveniently located on the outskirts of the premier town of Duck, NC., recently rated as one of the best kept secret destination spots in the entire country. Take a lovely stroll along the mile long Duck Boardwalk behind the shops or enjoy an evening dining at one of the many restaurants from casual to the sophisticated. For the more adventurous you can head North to Corolla for a Wild Horse Jeep Tour or test your climbing skills at the Corolla Adventure Park.

    From the spacious outdoor decks of “Captain's Perch” you will be able to enjoy the famous golden North Carolina sunsets with colors beyond anything we could describe or melt the stress away in your private hot tub while sipping a glass of wine from one of the local wineries. The sunsets on the bay are amongst the best in the World!

    The top level of Captain's Perch features an open kitchen & family room layout with new granite countertops and stainless-steel appliances, also fully stocked with everything needed to prepare delicious meals together as a family. Gather around the country style kitchen table which accommodates up to 10 at one time or grab a quick snack at the counter height bar stools. The double sliders provide the perfect entrance to the top-level deck area where you can enjoy the salty sweet outer banks breezes, gaze for local wildlife or have an appetizer or two while you enjoy the sunset. There is a King size bedroom found on the top level as well, which features all new painting/bedding/decor. The remaining 5 bedrooms are on the mid-level also featuring a total renovation and re-decoration and will leave you feeling rested and pampered (4 Queens and a Bunk room -2 sets). The hot tub is located on the mid-level deck and can be conveniently accessed by sliders from two different Queen bedrooms. The ground level accommodates additional guests with the pull-out Queen sleep sofa and a foosball table for recreation. There is also an extra refrigerator so you will not have to climb extra steps for a cold drink and an additional smart TV.

Wonderful Family Vacation

Wonderful property, kitchen is small and does not have a place for your food. But is nicely stocked, NO air fryer. Fridge is too small and freezer needs repair. Living area is comfortable and spacious. Dining area fit all 12 of us. Could use a card table for puzzle.Bathroom showers are small, but doable. Great location to see both sunrises and sunsets on sound side and beach access! Kayaks and paddles are available. Hammocks are wonderful. Pool (Wonderful!!) and hot tub were used daily! Outdoor shower, beach chairs(some unusable). Bunk room is only room we had to fight ants. Decks and deck furniture were very nice. This is an awesome property that for our family of 3 adult couples, 2 single adults, 2 teenage girls and 2 little girls 7&8. Beach Realty answered all issues promptly. But really did not know what the property furnished, therefore gave us incorrect info. But that did not hinder our stay or awesome time! We would definitely stay at this property again if we choose Duck for our next family vacation!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was more than happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our stay was extremely great overall. Here are a few items that need attention:1. The 3rd floor bedroom has some major safety items The headboard for the bed has two metal hinges and a gate lock sticking directly parallel with the bed. Could impale someone very easily. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. The mattress is a joke. Is deeply rutted in two places. The sheets, topper and everything else does not stay put for a night. This needs to be replaced.2. The window crank by the kitchen side door was found cracked upon arrival. Window in inoperative.3. The grounds by the outside table and BBQ need to be trimmed. There is a very sharp and large vine wrapped around both.4. You have conflicting information listed in numerous places as what to do with the linens upon check out. In the WELCOME TO THE OUTER BANKS 3 page document on page 3 ,UPON DEPARTURE/CHECK-OUT PROCEDURE item #3 you state to leave the linens on the beds, etc. In the ELECTRONIC CHECK IN PACKET page 3 CHECK OUT PROCEDURES ITEM #7 stated the same thing.BUT on page #! under RESERVATION DETAILS ***UPON DEPARTURE PLEASE PILE LINENS ON THE 2ND FLOOR HALLWAY OUTSIDE THE LAUNDRY CLOSET. ALL THIS NEEDS TO SAY THE SAME THING WHICHEVER YOU WANT.5. RESERVATION DETAILS NEEDS to have the GATE CODE for the swimming pool/tennis court clarified as to what it is.6. There is no mention anywhere about the pier as to where it is etc.7. It is mentioned that there are bicycles available for use. THERE WERE NO BICYCLES THERE.8. There is no mention anywhere about the SHED and its contents and location. Only discovered it my accident when someone saw the key hanging on the hook.9. There were no life vests for the kayak. If this is so then it needs to be mentioned in the description so people are aware of this and can bring their own.

Lovely home beautifully decorated. We enjoyed the pool but walking distance to. Beach was a challenge for toddlers and older members. Queen beds were not very comfortable. Carpets were stained in many rooms. Additional towels would be enjoyed as well as kitchen towels, and floats for pool.

Pleasantly Unpleasant

Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was more than happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our group arrived to find cleaning was not well cared for. Found sink still dirty, air filters extremely dark, ants in cabinet, toilets with feces still visible. Many other items not clean. The worst of all is I tried to get assistance and followed the instructions, sent pictures in the manner of text the management preferred. No response for 24 hours. So we cleaned it ourselves. We took good care of home and left it in better condition than we found. The management did start communication after I sent a longer message. The management company offered to send a cleaner but that was 2 days too late. Why send someone now? we already did it! After dealing with the management, The owner declined to compensate our efforts and did not offer any apologies or thanks for caring for his home. I expressed to the management my concerns and the representative offered an early check in next time, but I declined since I would not want to return to there management of other homes or this particular home. Nice location nice area but not again!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We loved staying here! The location in Duck was perfect and the proximity to the beach was perfect. The beach was a 5 minute walk. We enjoyed the tennis courts and community pool on rainy days. The kitchen was fully stocked with cookware, but needs to be organized. There were no empty cabinets to put food, we had to move stuff around. Hot tub was amazing and the pool was very nice! Bedrooms were good size. The great room felt spacious for 4 adults and 5 kids. Would definitely stay here again.

Great Place to Stay

We had a great vacation at Captains Perch. We loved the location between the sound and ocean. The only complaint we had was that the linens did not appear to be washed. Definitely would recommend this vacation home!

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was more than happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Booking process very good. As requested, reported damage immediately, communication was frustrating, various calls to address my concerns even though I requested they be managed after our stay. Our bedding had not been changed, sheets were sandy, blood stain found, mascara marks and such. Overall was extremely upset dealing with this late into the evening. Jason from Beach Realty housekeeping was extremely accommodating, bringing us fresh sheets immediately and arranging for all bedding to be changed out the following morning. Overall the home is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Pool furniture was black with algae, this should have been cleaned prior to rental. Location was great, use of kayaks was awesome and easy. Walk to beach was about 1/4 mile through the community.

The carport area needs a good power washing, one of the bedrooms was not cleaned and sheets had to be washed by us. These were some very minor things overall the house was wonderful. Thank you!!

OBX family vacation 2022

What a cute house!!! The decor fit my tastes to a “T”. It was in a quiet neighborhood with access to “neighborhood amenities”. The listing said there were bicycles guests could use, but all 3 adult bikes were not in usable condition. I had to rent bikes for the week from a local outfitter. The kayaks were wonderful though! The pool is brand new. It’s in fantastic condition. We would absolutely rent this house again!

Fun family get away!

Overall, We enjoyed our stay here. Everything we needed was available. However-- too many spiders! They were everywhere and made do anything outside the house (cooking at the grill, hottub, or sitting on porch) miserable! We broomed away as many as we could but they returned quickly, covering windows and doorways. Strongly suggest owners enlist a company to spray for pests and regularly have outdoor of home powerwashed. Otherwise, great location and plenty of space for our family to enjoy.

Comfortable stay

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was more than happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Nice home, well appointed and room to spread out. We liked that there was two living spaces so the kids had somewhere to go. Liked the close access to the pool, and bay. This property is the closest to the road though, so the road noise out on deck was not ideal. The kitchen was well stocked which we appreciated, and the firestick and multiple TV's were also appreciated. AC had a hard time keeping up on the third floor which is the living space, even though we had curtains closed, likely due to the cooking and having lots of kids in and about. Really liked the DUCK area rather than farther south in Nag's Head where we stayed before, and would go back to DUCK.

Great Family Get Away

The house is well kept, is within walking distance to the sound and ocean, and was the perfect size for our group which included 4 kids. Do not plan for adults to stay in the bunk bed room. The trees in the yard are beautiful, fun to climb, and had a tree swing. Also, if using the pool across the street matters to you, check to see if it has reopened post-covid - it was still closed April 2021.

Sounds Great, the perfect home away from home!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My four sisters and I are blessed to have been able to enjoy a week with each other, for the second time at Sounds Great in Duck, NC. No children (all grown anyway), no husbands (as much as we love them.) The house is absolutely beautiful, and so clean you can perform a surgery without fear of infection! And ladies, the kitchen is stocked with plenty of dinnerware, pots, pans, casserole dishes, cake pans, pie pans, roasters; anything you have in your own homes, and maybe more. Walks on beach, drives to Corolla or down to Nags Head, but we still prefer Duck. Great restaurants and plenty of markets and grocery stores. Sit on the third floor deck and enjoy your morning coffee or your evening wine; go biking, kayaking on the sound. Just go! Something to do for everyone! Sounds Great...we love you ♥️ We’ll be back!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Disappointed pool closed on property!! Kids extremely reason for such a move. Property was chosen because of location and pool for kids. You will say COVID reason....that is bull!! Limiting number in pool makes more sense than closing. Stroller straps dry rotted, body boards busted, bike tires go flat, no needle to pump up.....

Nicely updated home in a great location

We very much enjoyed our Memorial Day weekend at this property. It has been tastefully updated and the deck has a view of the sound. It's only 1.5 miles to town and there are bikes of every size available at the property, making it a quick bike ride into town.
