1 bedroom accommodation in Glenprosen, by Kirriemuir

This idyllic cottage has a woodland setting and is perfect for both walkers and cyclists with routes around this estate.. "Acres of peaceful and secluded countryside surround these magnificent cottages..."

At the heart of Glenprosen, one of the renowned ‘Glens of Angus’, lies the Balnaboth Estate on the edge of the Cairngorms National Park; 6,000 peaceful and secluded acres surrounding 16th-century Balnaboth House. In its midst, these six characterful holiday cottages each offer a unique and magical holiday retreat; indeed the creator of Peter Pan himself (Sir James Barrie) was born in nearby Kirriemuir and holidayed here.

These cottages were once occupied by shepherds, gardeners or other staff of the Ogilvy family when this was a traditional Victorian sporting estate. Red squirrels play in the trees, otters frequent the burns, and deer graze all around. Because of the varied scenery, that varies from beech woods to forest, pasture to heather moor, mountain streams to river pools, the area enjoys a spectacular range of wildlife, including species largely extinct elsewhere in Britain, such as black game and ptarmigan.
Magnificent walking, bird-watching, mountain biking and (in season) cross-country skiing abound on the estate and, further afield, downhill skiing at Glen Shee (25 miles). Fishing is available on a 5-mile stretch of the River Prosen, and there are twenty golf courses within an hours’ drive.
Enjoy the seclusion of this beautiful glen - peaceful, relaxing, scenic - yet just a few minutes’ drive from bustling market towns and busy fishing harbours which hug the Angus coastline, as well as from the city of Dundee which offers many attractions for all the family. The exciting Dundee Contemporary Arts is a stunningly-designed centre which incorporates galleries, a print studio and two art-cinema screens, while the Mills Observatory is Britain’s only full-time public observatory with a resident astronomer.
Good road, rail and air access to Angus provide easy access from all parts of the UK or international destinations. Shop 9-10 miles.. 1 step to entrance.

Perfect hide away to relax with hubby and my little boy. Played in garden most days and took in the beautiful surroundings on doorstep. When not in garden we explored the woods on estate. Perfect. 100% relaxation Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Complete peace and quiet in a beautiful setting, right next to small river and surrounded by beautiful woodland and hills. The cottage is very characterful with low ceilings, a wood burner and quirky features. Lots to explore and the neighbouring valley is well worth a visit. Don’t expect luxury, it is very much an old cottage which could do with some TLC , but if you want to escape it all, it is a perfect spot.

Having visited the Gardeners Bothy some 29 years ago we were pleased to see that it had retained its charm and character. We were looking forward to our visit and it didn’t disappoint.

The location and Bothy is beautiful and was just what we wanted with quiet surroundings, wild life and close to the river. The overall expectations of the Bothy is very good and we where delighted when we arrived and first entered the Bothy. Things to consider are the cooking equipment, cutlery and crockery. Bigger saucepans with lids that fit are needed. This was not to much of an issue for us and the above is just a suggestion. Overall we loved it and had the most amazing week, with daily visits from the Peacocks and walks around the estate. We would highly recommend the Gardeners Bothy as it the most magical place.
