Notwithstanding that the booking was non-cancellable, we contacted the hotel to enquire about a refund in the exceptional circumstances. "We’ve traveled to the Royal Sonesta in Kauai a couple years back and we fell in love, not only with the island but with the resort, the staff, the food, everything. The staff is so kind and never fail to impress. Our room was clean and they were consistent with the upkeep which I’m usually very particular about. Everything is a bit pricy but that was to be expected in Hawaii. The shops and restaurants are all within walking distance, we rented a car and although we were on the farther end of the resort we always managed to get a spot right by our tower. We appreciate the hospitality and the warm welcome, we will always come back<3"

"The home is lovely and modern with absolutely incredible views of the bay, evening sunsets, and colorful sunsets. We are a family of 5 that utilized heavily the well appointed kitchen and made plenty of use of the washer and dryer. The space inside is open, clean, and contemporary. The host added many nice bonuses such as toys, puzzles, and activities for kids in addition to anything and everything you would need for a day at the beach. The property is accessible to anywhere on the island and is centrally located to everything. The short walk to town makes for a nice stroll to dinner, shaved ice for dessert, or some souvenirs shopping. All in all, a great place to stay while visiting the beautiful island of Kauai!"

"Very clean property, in a good location on the island. Very nice pool area. Lots of noise from the highway. The a/c had a timer on it you have to crank every 6 hours. The property had minimal kitchen equipment. No large skillets, no cookie sheets. No hair dryer. No beach equipment at all."

"Awesome location walkable to beach, Sonesta Resort, Dukes, Golf Course and nearby coffee and shops. We rented both A & B which was comfortable for our family group of 9. Property shows some age and is in need of a few small repairs, new screen door but overall great value for the money."

"Overall this is a solid rental and we had a great time.The positives: amazing location and view, quick walk to beach, response from host was very good, kitchen is well stocked with supplies, beach chairs, towels, etc.The negatives: space is in need of some upgrades, some have been done but seemed to be patched together. AC in living room is insufficient during daylight hours. Square footage is quite small compared to how it looks online. Little tight for a family of 4.For the price, not sure that I would do this particular rental again, but still (barely) beats the price of the hotel next door."
